This afternoon Mrs Cameron and her class were letting off rockets, they had made, as part of their project on Russia. All the children were having a great time and were the centre of attention on the playing fields.

Liturgical Year Quiz
Two of our learners went head
to head in a Liturgical Year quiz during
assembly. They were delighted that it
ended in a draw.
Sports Day Winners
Well done to Arran House who
gained the highest score for Potted
Sports activities. Their Captain and
Vice Captain were absolutely thrilled!
Today the Nursery Buddies came to school to experience a school lunch.
There was even time to visit the Big Buddies classrooms for a little play.
Word Aware Activities
The class have enjoyed putting their Word Aware activities to good use this week.
They made ‘fortune tellers’ and chose words that were relevant to Islam, Science and Technology or the Aztecs to do the associated tasks.
They wrote descriptive lists for characters from a book or a film and played Guess Who. The better the description the easier the characters could be identified. Miss Lambert, our student from Forth Valley College, was excellent at guessing the cartoon characters from the television as she has two younger siblings so knew all the names.
There was lots of fun involved as the children developed their knowledge and understanding of words and their descriptive literacy skills.
Islam
Over the past month the class have been learning all about Islam. Miss Whiteside, a student teacher in Religious Education from Stirling University, has been delivering lessons on Islam. This has been particularly relevant as it is the month of Ramadan and Eid shall be celebrated this week.
The class have shown their knowledge and understanding throughout when they were placed in the ‘hot seat’ to answer questions on each lesson once completed.

The children worked to design and create a collaborative prayer mat using geometric shapes.
Fizzah brought in her copy of the Qur’an and her own prayer mat today.
The children have really enjoyed learning about another world religion.
Word Aware
Primary 3C and some children from Primary4/5K enjoyed an afternoon session of Word Aware together in the Dinner Hall.
They played a variety of games and made resources that aim to develop their vocabulary knowledge and understanding.
Aztecs with P4/5K
Aztec Art : Masks of Gods in clay or collage materials
Aztec Alphabet: Writing messages using the symbols for our classmates to decipher
Aztec Books: The class worked in pairs to create their book on an i-Pad using the Book Creator app. They shared and read their factual books with children in P3/4 and P2R.
Working hard in P5C!
Here is a small sample of what we have been doing in P5C this week.
We are still working hard with Mr Orr and Mrs Barratt finding which instrument we want to play in the band.
We were working on our skills throwing the Javelin. 
We have been enjoying our daily mile.
We enjoyed using the app Chatterkids to make pictures talk.
Digital Learning Week!
Last week was Digital Learning Week where the children were given lots of opportunities to work on lessons using ICT.
We used the iPads to create digital books using the app Book Creator. 
We used the iPads to create mind maps on the Aztecs using the Popplet app.
We worked with Mr Grant on our Forces project looking at Acceleration. We put a chip inside a sponge ball and then took turns throwing and kicking the ball. The results of how fast the ball was going were shown on the computer.
We worked hard on our Aztec reports. 
We enjoy reading with our P1 Reading Buddies.
We had fun with the P7 Sports Leaders on Friday afternoon.
