We have been working very hard this week to learn the Scots poem ‘Mince and Tatties’ by J.K. Annand in celebration of Burns Day. We were able to perform this poem at assembly this week. Here is a video of us performing for the other Primary 2 class.
This week we found out our brand new topic for this term will be the Rainforest.
We thought carefully about what we already knew about the Rainforest and what we wanted to find out over the course of the term. We then looked at different pictures, photos and paintings of the rainforest to get an idea of what the rainforest looks like. We particularly liked Henri Rousseau’s famous painting of a tiger hiding in amongst some long grass so we decided to create our own art work inspired by this painting. Here are some of the finished pieces. Aren’t they wonderful?
Last term as part of our topic “Night and Day” we had a visit from Owl Magic. We learned lots of interesting facts about owls and we all got to hold an owl each!
This term in ICT we have been using the school laptops. We have learned how to log in using our own username, how to open Microsoft Word and how to change the size and font of text we had typed. The trickiest part of all was learning to press CTRL, ALT and delete at the same time to access the log in screen but after lots of practise we managed it!
We have been learning about the differences between transport on land, transport on water and transport in the air. Working in teams, we sorted different pictures of transport into three categories.
Allowing our children to develop personally, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
