What’s been happening in P5C?

We had fun making our Thaumatropes as part of our Disney & Animation Topic.

We designed and created Disney Fact Files for our display.

We enjoy our active comprehension lessons using working collaboratively and co-operatively with our group.

We are really enjoying the new songs with actions we are learning with Mr Orr and Mrs Barratt.

We had fun using the i-Pads during our active maths lesson. We played halving games and decimal games.

Mollie and Matthew were our recent Stars of the Week.

Well done to both of you.

The tickets for Think Dance are now on sale and can be purchased from the MacRobert Arts Centre.

Enjoy your February break!

A week in P5C.

This week in P5C we had fun with Mr Orr and Mrs Barratt in music.

Mr Orr let some of us have a go on the trumpet. He taught us what way we have to blow and the shape our lips have to be. It was good fun.

We took each other’s pulses for our science experiment.

Aiden was our Star of the Week this week due to his hard work, particularly in writing.

In maths we have been adding tenths and hundredths using our PIMM addition Big Maths strategy.

In writing we are looking at speech marks and had fun trying to guess famous quotes.

We continue to practise our Think Dance and we are looking forward to performing at the MacRobert in February.

Busy week in P5C!

This week we have been working on decimals, looking at adding tenths and working with money.

The children had fun using the I- pads to play money games.

We have also been looking at our talking and listening skills. We focussed on our questioning skills using the old fashioned version of ‘Heads Up’. We used post it notes stuck to our foreheads and we had to guess who the person was, using good questioning skills. Only ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers were allowed.

All children have worked hard in swimming and this week was no exception when they had to wear pyjamas in the pool and then use the trousers as a buoyancy aid.

First Week Back in P5C.

We have enjoyed our first week back in      Primary 5C.

Mr Grant was in to begin our Computing Science lessons. We discussed experiments and began planning our first experiment.

We had fun in music playing the Ukulele and singing a new song in Gaelic.

We discussed our New Year Resolutions and created our goals for 2018.

We listened to speeches from our three Eco candidates and voted for our class representative.

Amelie became the P5C class rep. Well done Amelie!

I would like to personally thank you all for the wonderful cards and gifts I received at Christmas time. It was very thoughtful and I was overwhelmed by your generosity.

Happy New Year !

Dr Seuss Day!

P5C enjoyed our Dr Seuss day on Friday. This was to finish off our Topic. We had lots of fun during our Topic and we looked at the following books by Dr Seuss: The Cat in the Hat; Oh, The Places You’ll Go! and The Lorax. Our Topic covered a diverse range of subjects (Health & Wellbeing; Geography; The Environment; PSD; as well as a huge range of literacy).

Most of us dressed up as Dr Seuss characters and we took part in lots of activities.

Working hard in P5C!

Some examples of what P5C have been working on this week.

In maths we have been looking at Place Value and Partitioning numbers.  We have been working on our times tables and Learn Its for homework.

In ICT we have been creating Health and Safety leaflets connected to our Dr Seuss topic.

In music we were learning how to sing and we were introduced to new songs.

We were working on our Listening and Talking skills as we discussed our Dreams and Goals for this year and for the future.
