This Week’s Assembly
At this week’s Assembly we explored Article 3 of the UNCRC.
Article 3 is particularly important as it on of the key articles that underpins the UNCRC and is one of the key foundations of the charter.
Article 3 states:
“All adults should do what is best for you. When adults make decisions, they should think about how their decisions will affect children.”
The children considered the following key points.
- Who are the adults they trust to make decisions in their best interests.
- How the adults involve me in the decisions they make.
- Are there any decisions made or instructions given by adults which the child doesn’t like but they know is the right decision.
During the assembly, we shared examples of the children’s writing with each other and celebrated our Star Writers by giving out Star Writer awards and badges.
The certificates and examples of writing can be viewed below.

This Week’s Assembly 30th August 2021
At this weeks Assembly the children reflected on how they are supported in relation to Article 39 – A person’s right to help if you have been hurt, neglected, or badly treated.
The children thought about a time when they felt they had been hurt, left out or badly treated and how the situation was resolved.
Some examples of what the children talked about included –
“When I was hurt outside I told my teacher and a support assistant, and the office ladies helped and sorted it out.”
Another pupil told their teacher that she hurt her head on the trim trail but was looked after by someone in the office. She was given an ice pack which helped to soothe her head.
In another class two girls fell out and another girl came along and helped them sort it out.
We were introduced to our new House Captains, who were voted for by pupils across P4-P7.
Congratulations to our new House Captains and Vice Captains
Also, a huge well done to all of our P7 pupils who put themselves forward and delivered a speech outlining why they would make a good House Captain.
The teachers also nominated children to receive the Head Teacher’s Award, the certificates can be viewed below.
