Introducing…

House Captains

At Coylton, we have four Houses: Carebieston, Duchray, Hillhead and Martnaham. We are the House Captains and these are our responsibilities:

  • Set a good example for younger pupils by modelling good behaviour, responsibility and working hard in class.
  • Represent our school during special events and meetings.
  • Work with other House Captains to plan fun and exciting house assemblies.
  • Lead house assemblies each month. Our assemblies will focus on our school values, recent achievements, children’s rights, inspirational stories and upcoming events.
  • Encourage house spirit, teamwork and friendly competition.
  • Motivate our peers by reminding them of the rewards and benefits of earning house points.
  • Lead by example by joining in house activities and earning points whenever we can.
  • Work with SLT to plan an exciting house treat in the event that our house is the winner.

We are excited to do our best and help make our house the best it can be!

P1 Buddies

Hi, we are the P1 Buddies! Our job is all about helping out the Primary 1 pupils and here’s what we do:

  • Play with the P1 pupils, helping them have fun and make friends.
  • Help the P1 teachers on Friday afternoons by giving extra help to P1 pupils, explaining tasks and guiding them through activities.
  • Model good behaviour and encourage the P1 pupils to be ready, respectful and safe.
  • Read stories to the P1 pupils, helping them discover new books and get excited about reading.
  • Encourage P1 pupils to join in group activities and games, making sure everyone gets involved and is included.
  • Listen to the P1 pupils if they have any worries and help them out when they need it.
  • Help out in the lunch hall each day by pouring milk and water, cutting up food and making sure everyone has what they need.

We love being P1 Buddies and helping the youngest pupils feel happy and safe at school!

Junior Sports Leaders

Hi, we are the Junior Sports Leaders! Here’s what we do:

  • Organise and lead after-school clubs, creating a fun place for everyone to learn new skills and enjoy being active.
  • Help out with sports events by working with Mrs. Edmiston to plan and run events, especially on Sports Day, where we support younger pupils during races and activities.
  • Take care of the PE cupboard by keeping it clean and organised and making sure the equipment is always in good shape.
  • Teach basic PE lessons to younger pupils, helping them learn new skills and get excited about physical activity.
  • Show good sportsmanship, teamwork and a positive attitude in everything we do, so younger pupils have a great example to follow.
  • Create a sports podcast with Mr. Crookston, where we talk about all things sport and PE!

We love being Junior Sports Leaders and making PE and sports fun for everyone!

  • Collect Recognition Certificates from teachers and hand them out to pupils who have done a great job after the assembly.
  • Take photos of pupils who have been recognised for their achievements and share these on X to celebrate their hard work.
  • Make sure our school’s social media is always positive and shows off all the amazing things happening at school.
  • Work together to gather info and plan fun activities for the weekly updates and assembly.

We love being Recognition Leaders and celebrating all the great things happening at our school!
