Active Schools

Active Schools aims to provide more and higher quality opportunities for children to participate in school and community sport, and to increase capacity through the recruitment and development of volunteers.

Our Active Schools Co-ordinator is in the process of being appointed and they will work closely with Mrs Edmiston to provide an extra-curricular programme which offers opportunities for all within the school. Claire also works to recruit volunteers to deliver activity sessions within curricular time. As a result, we have established links with Ayr Rugby Club, Ayr Cricket Club, Coylton Tennis Club, Ayr Seaforth, Ayr United, Ayr Taekwondo Club and Ayrshire Tug of War Club.

Junior Coaching Academy will also be delivered to our senior pupils.  Junior Coaching Academy is a leadership programme offered to Primary 6 and 7. This is delivered over a 5 week block where pupils develop the basic leadership qualities to allow the children to lead playground and after school activities for the younger years within the school.
