Welcome to Primary 2’s Class Page!

Term 3 in P2…

In maths we are continuing to work with numbers to 100, counting and ordering. We also continue to keep working with addition and subtraction, adding doubles and near doubles. We are learning about time, looking at different ways of measuring time. We have been ordering days of the week and months of the year. We are also learning about analogue and digital clocks, telling the time using o’clock and half past. We will also be covering 2D shape properties, grid references and more measuring. (length)

In literacy we continue to work through the Bug Club reading scheme. We are making really good progress with reading! We have been learning what nouns and adjectives are, as well as vowels. We will also be learning about verbs and alphabetical order. We are focusing on imaginative writing at the moment and are learning through the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs.’

Our topic just now is Scotland and we are having fun learning Scottish words and phrases. We have also been exploring the map of Scotland and where it is in the world. We are learning about what Scotland is famous for, shortbread, haggis and Robert Burns are a few of them. We are learning how to perform a Scottish poem ‘Nessie’ by J K Annand. Miss Marr is looking forward to watching some of the performances and we are taking part in a whole school competition!
