Primary 2/3- Term 3

We are continuing in our class to try our best to demonstrate the school values – ready, respectful and safe.

  • In Numeracy this term we will be focusing on money, fractions and estimating & rounding.
  • In Maths we will be concentrating on measurement and looking at measuring and recording length, weight, and capacity.
  • Scots Focus: we are learning the Scots poem “The Sair Finger” by Walter Wingate.  It is important for us to learn about our Scots culture, and we will be exploring this further through stories as well as poetry.
  • During this term we will also be learning more Gaelic and will be working on vocabulary for Gaelic activities and food. We even plan to learn a couple of songs in Gaelic.
  • In Literacy, we continue to work hard to develop our skills in phonics.  We are learning to blend (read) and segment (spell) words using different approaches and strategies.  We have also started our new Book Study: “The Twits” by Roald Dahl.  This book study will form part of our IDL work where we will be looking at animals and where they are to be found in our world.
  • Keep checking twitter for regular updates of what we have been up to each week in class J
