Hello from Primary 5
In our class this year we have 25 pupils – 16 girls and 9 boys. Our class teacher is Mrs Duncan. Miss McFarlane will teach Science, Outdoor Learning and P.E. each week on a Tuesday.
Health and Wellbeing – We will be learning to swim at the Citadel in Ayr in term 3 this year. This will be 10 lessons, and we will travel to the Citadel by bus each week. In P.E. this year we will be developing our skills in; throwing & catching, hockey, golf, netball, gymnastics and fitness. We will continue to complete our Daily Mile in different fun ways and styles! We will also learn about healthy eating, positive attitudes and Growth Mindset. In term 4, we will complete our Bikeability Level 1 Award.
Maths – We will be developing our number skills working with the four operations, number relationships and times tables as well as different Number Talk strategies. We will be working through maths topics covering number, money & measure; shape, position and movement and information handling.
Literacy –We will focus on fluency and understanding when reading, grammar skills, spelling skills and we will be developing our writing skills using VCOP and the Talk for Writing programme.
We will develop new skills learning through Science & Technologies, IDL, Meta Skills, French Social Studies, Art, Drama, Music, R.M.E., and French. Mrs Caira is teaching BSL each week.
P5 are the Pupil Council. We will be busy working within our school community throughout this school session, which we are really excited about.
We are also keeping ourselves safe and our classroom clean by remembering to follow the values we want to keep – Ready Respectful and safe!
