Primary 4

By Roman

Welcome to Term 3 in Primary 4 with Mrs Wilcox. We are continuing to work hard each day to show that we are ready, respectful, and safe. Our aim each day is to have all our names on the recognition board.

This term we have lots of special days to celebrate beginning with Robert Burns. The class are learning Address to the toothache as part of that celebration. We will also be exploring Chinese New Year, Pancake day, Valentine Day, Easter, St Patrick’s Day and St George’s Day.

In Health and wellbeing we are continuing to look at self esteem and emotions. We share our thoughts ad ideas with our peers and we are working hard to build resilience. In addition to this we will be focussing on tolerance of each other. This will involve looking at our differences and what makes us unique. We will then look at how we can be supportive of our peers.

This term in maths, we will be learning about number patterns, fractions, division and measure. We learn through writing, games and interactive work on the whiteboard and iPads.

In literacy, we have a new class novel to study. This time it is another Flat Stanley story. This time he is in space.  We are looking forward to finding out about his adventures and how he became a hero again. We are developing our reading through Bug Club and accelerated reading and we enjoy choosing books from the library.  We complete a range of comprehension and grammar work each week.

Our topic this term is Scotland with a focus on Scottish landmarks and landscapes. We will be exploring Scottish artists as well as travelling all around (virtually of course) to see the stunning landscapes and intriguing landmarks to discover all about them.

We continue to enjoy our PE and this term we are developing our stamina through circuit training with Mrs Stewart (indoors on a Tuesday) and ball skills (outside on a Thursday) with Mrs Wilcox

Our R.E topic this term is Easter and towards the end of the term we will be exploring more about this.

In ICT, we have been completing accelerated reading testing, playing maths games and using a range of software to create pictures and posters. We love ICT time!
