Active Schools aims to provide more and higher quality opportunities for children to participate in school and community sport, and to increase capacity through the recruitment and development of volunteers.
Our Active Schools Co-ordinator is Jade Davis, she will work closely with Mrs Edmiston to provide an extra-curricular programme which offers opportunities for all within the school. Claire also works to recruit volunteers to deliver activity sessions within curricular time. As a result, we have established links with Ayr Rugby Club, Ayr Cricket Club, Coylton Tennis Club, Ayr Seaforth, Ayr United, Ayr Taekwondo Club and Ayrshire Tug of War Club.
Junior Coaching Academy will also be delivered to our senior pupils. Junior Coaching Academy is a leadership programme offered to Primary 6 and 7. This is delivered over a 5 week block where pupils develop the basic leadership qualities to allow the children to lead playground and after school activities for the younger years within the school.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
Term 3 After school Clubs 2025
Mrs Edmiston has been working hard to organise the following after school clubs for classes:
P6 and P7
Netball will run for pupils in P6 and P7 on Friday’s and the dates are 24th January, 31st January, 7th February, 14th February, 21st February, 28th February, 7th March, 14th March, 21st March and 28th March. (10 weeks)
P4 and P5
Handball will run for pupils in P4 and P5. Eoin Yates from Active Schools will lead this on Wednesday’s and the dates are 29th January, 5th February, 12th February, 19th February, 26th February and 5th March. (6 weeks)
P3
P7 Junior Coaches will lead an after-school Multi-Sports club. Jade Davis from Active Schools will supervise this. By dedicating this block to P3 only, we can ensure a better chance for pupils to secure a space. Additionally, this approach allows us to accommodate other year groups in future blocks, giving everyone a fair opportunity to participate.
The day will be Monday and the dates are 17th March, 24th March and 31st March. (3 weeks)
P2
