Primary 6/7

Primary 6/7  – Term 3

Hello!  We are Primary 6/7!

This year, our teacher is Miss Cowie.  We have 22 pupils in our class; 11 P6 pupils and 11 P7 pupils.  We have 13 girls and 9 boys.  Mrs Ferguson will work within our class on a Wednesday morning.

In P6/7, we try hard to show that we are always READY, RESPECTFUL and SAFE.

  • In Numeracy and Maths, we will be focusing on BODMAS, Integers, Shape and Money.
  • Our class novel this term is ‘Rat’ by Patrice Lawrence. This is a transition project with Ayr Academy.  We will use this novel to look at themes such as friendship, betrayal, loyalty, inequality and tolerance of others.  We will also continue our work on Phase 2 of the South Ayrshire Reads programme where we will continue to develop our decoding and encoding skills.
  • In Health and Wellbeing, P6 pupils will finalise the work they have been doing with the Educational Psychologist. P7 pupils will explore the topic of substance misuse.  Learning will include looking at smoking, vaping, alcohol and illegal substances.  Pupils will be encouraged to make responsible decisions throughout this topic.  P7 pupils will also look at Cognitive Behaviour Techniques supported by our cluster Educational Psychologist.
  • Mr Thompson will work with our class every Wednesday. We will be learning how to sing and how to follow performance directions.  Look out for a special performance in June.
  • Our PE days this term will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
  • Our Outdoor Learning Day will be on a Monday.
  • P7 will continue to undertake leadership duties on a Friday afternoon.

Remember to ask us all about our learning and keep an eye on Twitter and Teams as we will regularly share our learning on these platforms.
