Primary 7 – Term 2 Welcome to Primary 7 where we enjoy all aspects of our learning. This year, our teacher is Mrs Edmiston. We are class of 22 pupils who are all keen and excited to learn. Our school values are READY, RESPECTFUL and SAFE and they guide us in all that we do.
This term, we are finishing off our class novel, Divided City by Theresa Breslin before moving on to The Final Year by Matt Goodfellow. This story, told in verse, follows Nate as he navigates the challenges of his last year of primary school with friendships changing, family struggles, and preparing for high school. The book explores themes of family, identity, belonging, and resilience, providing rich opportunities for discussion and reflection. We are also continuing with Phase 3 of South Ayrshire Reads, focusing on developing our encoding and decoding skills. Our writing lessons are closely linked to our book studies and real-life contexts, helping us make meaningful connections between our learning and the wider world.
In Maths, we are developing our understanding of multiples, factors, and primes, learning about integers, and working with money. We are also exploring statistics, using data to interpret and present information in different ways. We use a range of written tasks, puzzles, challenges, and games to build and apply our skills.
In Health and Wellbeing, we are exploring the topic of substance misuse. This includes learning about smoking, vaping, alcohol, and illegal substances, with a focus on making informed and responsible choices. Our P7 leadership roles are now in full swing! We’re enjoying the chance to lead by example, work as a team, and make a real difference around the school.
Mr Thompson, our vocal coach, joins us every Wednesday afternoon – look out for an exciting performance based on the musical Oliver in December!
Miss McFarlane will also be in our classroom on Wednesday and Thursday, focusing on Sustainability and RME.
