Bishop John visits P7 Confirmandi

Today we had a lovely visit from Bishop John. He helped us to prepare for our Confirmation, and gave us more information about some very special Saints.

A few of the children were lucky enough to take part in short role plays to help us understand Bishop John’s role during our Confirmation.

P7 John Byrne Workshop and Award Ceremony

Mrs McDougall and 10 Primary 7 children were very lucky to attend the John Byrne workshop on Wednesday 27th March at the Tannahill Centre.

John Byrne has been our focus this term in art and we entered the competition by completing art work inspired by the artist himself.

We enjoyed the workshop in the morning with Ruth Aitken and then were treated to a fabulous buffet! Look out for footage online of the children completing their sketches

We really enjoyed working with Glencoat’s Primary and getting to know the pupils better by taking part in a portrait challenge.

World Book Day!

We have had a very busy World Book Day. This morning we went to see the library monitors who let us pick from a choice of 3 books and…. we get to keep them! After break, we joined up with Primary 2 and we got to listen to either Never Tickle a Tiger or The Dinosaur that Pooped the Princess. We then completed lots of fun tasks about these books. This afternoon, we visited Primary 7 and they read us The Hungry Caterpillar. We then worked together on a range of stations that they had created, such as colouring, a quiz and fruit tasting. We have had a wonderful day.

I liked guessing the fruit with P7. -Rachel

I thought the dinosaur story was so funny. -Arturo

I want to read my book.- Ula

P7 and P1 paired gym

Today the p7 and p1 class paired up for some ‘buddy gym.’ We worked together to set up a few different stations- we had a gymnastics station, football station, throwing station and tennis station. The p7s were very good at demonstrating and supporting the p1s, and the p1s worked so well and listened carefully to their helpers.

P7 have asked if we can do this again. We will work in groups to plan really efficient lessons and then will teach these to our buddies.

P6 and P7 Stem Challenge

Thanks to all our parents/guardians who came in last week for the second of our class meetings. We completed another successful STEM challenge and I’m sure you’ll agree that the children were completely on task and contributing well, the photos below prove that!

Our challenge was to

Create a marble run that will keep a marble running for up to 60 seconds.

We were looking for

* effective planning and communicating

* all members on task

Take a look below at our ideas and how we managed to complete our task.

Christmas meals for the homeless

Another random act of kindness we decided on as a class was to raise money to see if we could feed some of our local homeless people this Christmas.

We made up small Christmas gift hampers and raffled these. We raised £100!! Due to such generous children in our school we are now able to donate 20 Christmas meals to our local community.

Well done again children!!

Annie with her fab Kevin the Carrot present!

Our wonderful ‘rafflers’!

Sara won a key ring making kit and some tasty chocolate!

Emilia wasn’t in today so Gabriella chose a prize for her and will deliver it to her for Christmas.

P6 and P7 local food bank donations

As one of our random acts of kindness during advent we started a food bank donations box. Between children and staff we donated so much that we had to split the food between two boxes! Steven from St. Ninian’s Church popped by to pick up our boxes and was absolutely delighted with our contributions.

How lovely to think that some local families will have enough food now to see them through the Christmas holidays. Well done again boys and girls!

Christmas Story Sharing

Today P7 visited our class because they had written us all a fantastic personalised Christmas Story. Some of us became elves and some of us went on Santa’s sleigh. Primary 7 read us our stories and then we had time to play together. We even had a milk and Oreo treat! We had so much fun.

Courtney- My story has secret compartments.

We made cards for Primary 7.

Rachel- I can’t wait to see my buddy.

Jay- I love dipping it in milk.

Ula- This is yummy.
