Science

I have linked a website below that has lots of fantastic ideas that you could try. As they all require different things I want you to pick what experiment you can do with what you have at home. Always have an adult help you. I can’t wait to see what one you pick!

Before you start your experiment I want you to talk about what you think is going to happen, this is called a hypothesis. Once you get to the end of it I want you to talk about what did happen and if your hypothesis was right. I also want you to have a discussion about why you think it happened.

P6 Home Learning Tasks

Good Morning and Happy Monday to you all. I hope you had a lovely weekend and had a chance to relax in the sun, yesterday afternoon. Can you believe that we only have two more weeks of home learning tasks before we break for the summer? I cannot believe that the time has passed so quickly since we stopped in March. You will start to get more information about arrangements for returning to school in August soon and remember that that you will need to think about speeches applying for Head Boy and Head Girl!

There will be another activity for the RL Olympics which I will post later. Your tasks are posted in Google Classroom and I have them listed here;

Task 1 – Think about your friends you have missed from school and take 5 min to say the school prayer, with a Hail Mary and Our Father to ask for them to be kept safe.

Task 2 – Cosmic Yoga – Join Jamie for some meditation before you get started with your tasks. Relax and think clearly to complete your tasks quickly and accurately.

P7 Home learning tasks for 15.06.20

Good morning P7 and Happy Monday. I can’t believe we only have 2 more weeks to go!see you in class

You have a busy fortnight ahead although sadly not as busy as we would have originally wanted.

On Thursday you will be visiting St. Andrew’s (and other children have or will also be visiting Castlehead and St. Benedict’s). Thursday would also have been our Prom. I thought it would be nice to have a TEAM MEET on Thursday to have a mini party. Come along with juice and snacks, and if you wanted to (just for fun) wear something fancy!! I have invited Mrs McDonald and Mrs Rowley along to our meeting too so that they can join the party!

Here are your tasks for today. Keep uploading!

P2/3 Daily Tasks Friday 12.06.20

Well done for all of your hard work yet again! We are going to start with some Literacy, then Music, P.E. and finally our Friday challenge.

Morning Prayer

Literacy – Morning Routine

With us not being in school I am interested to find out what your new routine is for the day, I know everyone’s will be different but that’s a good thing! Do you work and then play? Or do you have a slow start to your day, play for a while and then work? Remember to include times in your routine, these don’t have to be exact. Here is what my morning looks like:

7:30 – Wake up

7:45 – have breakfast and watch the news

8:30 – upload your daily tasks

8:40 – shower and get dressed

9:00 – start school work

12:30 – lunch

Break

Music – From Miss. P

Today we are going to start by listening to a piece of music called

In the Hall of the Mountain King by a composer called Grieg

First of all, I would

Like you to listen and watch, then clap the rhythm. Do you remember what all your rhythms are called?

Next, we are going to compose our own body beat. First, listen to Ollie, he is using 4 names. I’d like you to choose 4 names and make up your own body percussion.

Lastly, I’d like you to listen to this.

This is John, one of my friends and he has

recorded this. Do you recognise this song?

Your family will recognise it too.

Can you spot how many instruments he is playing and what they are?

GoNoodle to get you moving – pick your own today

https://www.youtube.com/user/GoNoodleGames

P.E – Choice

Pick an activity from the grid.

P.E-Challenge-Grid

Friday Challenge – name the animal

Pick an animal and only use words to describe it, you can’t say the name! Pick an animal and think of ways to describe it, for example if I thought of a lion I might say “big, furry, scary, massive paws, very long and large teeth, longer hair around their face that looks red.” And hopefully someone will be able to guess the animal that you are thinking of.

P6 Home Learning Tasks 12/6/20

Good morning P6, I hope you had some fun yesterday with your Health and Wellbeing task? My daughters couldn’t understand why I was being so nice to them and every time I said something nice they started laughing.

The Emperor Tamarins were a bit of a disappointment, I don’t think they liked the rain and went hiding!

Your task today are all focused on Africa, there are no formal literacy or maths tasks but you will need to listen and be creative.

Task 1 – Lets Explore Nigeria – a short video clip with some questions to answer.

Task 2 – Virtual Safari at Longleat Safari Park.  – Follow the safari around the park, take notes and create a safari board game.

Task 3 – Ndebele Art – Look at the images in the PowerPoint and design your own pattern on the worksheet.

Only three tasks but they will take a bit of time. Be as fun as you can with the game and play it with your family.

Have a great weekend, I am in St Fergus’ today and again at the start of next week, if you need help just send me a message.

Japan has more than 100 active volcanoes. Mount Fuji is one of the most famous ones.

Now it’s your turn to make your own volcano

This is what you will need.

A bottle or jar

One cup of room temperature water

1/4 cup vegetable oil

Salt; rock salt works best, but table salt will also work

Optional: food coloring

Salt Volcano Instructions:

  1. Pour water into the jar.
  2. If using food coloring, add it now.
  3. Pour in the oil. Do not mix!
  4. Sprinkle the salt into the jar.
  5. Observe what happens!

Art

The cherry blossom is considered the unofficial National flower of Japan.

There are many dozens of different cherry tree varieties in Japan, most of which bloom for just a few days in spring. When they bloom it is celebrated with hanami (cherry blossom viewing) parties under the trees.

Can you create your own cherry blossom?

Here are a few examples of how you can do this.

Good morning everyone and Happy Friday!

Bitmoji Image

Well done for all your hard work and commitment this week. You have remained so focused and continued the hard work in very difficult circumstances and should be so proud of yourselves. Many of you are more than ready for high school and have proven this with your hard working attitude and resilience.

Some nice, light hearted, tasks for today (minus the spelling test sorry!) to help you relax and take a trip down memory lane. Many of you will have high school visits next week and then some time in school the following week so it’s important to relax before things start to  busy up slightly!

Have a good day and keep in touch.
