Hi Mrs Howlin
thanks for visiting our blog and leaving a comment. This is so true, it does get very dark in Scotland in the winter months and leaving school at 5pm during this team would mean going home in very dark conditions. This is not ideal for young children. I also feel like a cuppa at the end of the day. I am not sure I would be able to last until 5pm before getting a refreshment either. 😀

Hi Miss Docherty’s Class,
I was interested that someone would suggest school for 4 days insteard of 5. I have visited Scotland several times and it can get very dark early in the day. I don’t think it would be a good idea walking home in the dark. Our school in Australia starts at 9am and finishes at 3pm. I am tired by then and am ready for a cuppa and a rest.I wouldn’t want to keep teaching till 5pm.
I love Scotland so will continue to follow your blog.
Hi Mr Thurlow
Thanks for visiting our blog and leaving a comment on the four day school week. There was a lot of debate our class about this, but the majority of the children felt that this would not be a good idea. The 5pm finishing time was not very appealing to them. 😀
I have since heard that the proposal will not be taken forward, but it was an interesting topic for discussion in class.

Our class decided that a four day week wouldn’t work. We agreed that students and teachers wouldn’t like school to go 5pm. Like you suggest most of the students parents work Monday to Friday.

Hi Mrs Daugherty and 5th Grade
It was really great that other people took the time to help us name Abby’s hen. We were really pleased that so many people voted. All we need now is a photo to put on the blog, so that people can meet the hen they helped to name.
Sushi is such a great name for a fish! It’s great that you have a class pet. Who looks after Sushi over the weekends and holidays?
We will keep in touch.

Good morning Miss Docherty’s class!
It looks like you all have a lot of fun in your class and really use technology a lot! We would love to blog with you all about what is going on in 5th grade! I love that you all had a contest to name the pet hen! What a great idea. We did something in the fall, but not on the blog, to name our class pet. We named our fish sushi. :-). We will keep checking back on your blog to see what you all are up to! We would love to hear from you on our blog in the U. S.
