Fantastic Mr Fox

As usual you will have your meeting with Mrs Rowan on Tuesday at 11am please try not to forget. I know she has been so proud of all the hard work you have been doing. She will also upload your work for the week onto Teams. Make sure you have checked what pages to do.
We will have a meeting on Monday this week at 12pm. This will just be a catch up and to go over the writing for Wednesday. You all have plenty of books on BugClub so make sure you have a wee look. The more you practice the better you get and we can look at moving on when we come back.

Writing

This week we are not going to be writing a story. I am sure you are all delighted! I am so amazed at the writing I have read over the last 8 weeks so I thought we should have a little break.
We are going to write a poem about returning to school. The title of the poem is Marvellous Me! You are all marvellous and we should celebrate it. Here is the sheet we will be using to help us write our poem Marvellous me – poem. We will be going over this in your literacy slot on Monday/Tuesday as I will be in the hub on Wednesday.
1. First, take a look at the sheet and think of some words or short phrases, linked to returning to school, to complete each of the following headings (I have included some examples):
  • I wonder… (if I will still be sitting in the same seat)
  • I pretend…
  • I worry…
  • I feel… (excited to see my friends and classmates)
  • I hear… (the noisy chatter of P6 in the open area)
  • I see…
  • I dream…
  • I wish…
  • I hope… (this is the last lockdown we have to endure).
2. Next, I would like you to write 6 words to describe yourself. Here are some examples:
  • enthusiastic
  • kind
  • ambitious
  • hardworking
  • loving
  • athletic
3. Use 2 of the words you have used to describe yourself, with ‘I am’ at the start. Then add on one of the sentences you thought about coming back to school. Do this 3 times so that you have used all 6 of your words you used to describe yourself. Here is my example:
I am loving and kind.
I feel excited to see all of my classmates and friends again.
I am ambitious and hardworking.
I hope that this is the last lockdown we have to endure.
4. Finally, create 1 more stanza (verse) of your own choosing about returning to school. Here is my example:
I am proud and grateful.
I see my amazing class sitting in front of me listening intently and hungry for knowledge.
When you put your whole poem together you should have 4 stanzas (verses) all about you and some of your feelings about coming back to school. Make sure you share them on Teams. I am so excited to read them, already!
