Weekly Review 23/10/20

This week we have been up to lots of different things.
The week started by sharing what we had been up to over the October break and writing Mrs Munro a postcard with a picture. We even addressed them to her at school.
We finished reading ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl. We are sad that it is finished however we are really happy that the Boy and his Grandmother were able to defeat the Grand High Witch and all the witches in England.
Here is just some of the work we have produced over the course of this novel study.

In handwriting we focussed on phase 5 tricky words and recapped how most of our letters join to the next letter. We just need to focus on making sure all our other jotters are as beautiful as our handwriting jotters.
On Wednesday with Ms Kelso we learned about the origins of halloween and started to write a report all about this.
We started learning about formal addition this week. We also know these as tower sums or chimney sums. We think our knowledge of place value and all the hard work we did in term 1 has really helped with this. We even took our learning outdoors and made some chimney sums in the playground with nature.

Ms Kelso was in on Wednesday and we recapped on some of our time work and did some ICT.
For art we spent a bit of time finishing off our Egyptian Pharaoh pictures, as we weren’t able to get these finished before the holidays. Mrs Munro will put them up on the wall next week so we can see them.

Next week is our halloween party so we started working in our groups to come up with an activity each that we can run. We thought about different games we would play at parties, how we could make them Halloween themed and then how we could make them Covid 19 safe. We will make all the things we need next week and carry them out on Friday.
