Room 5 – A peek at our week!

Room 5 have had a fantastic first full week back at school!

Our week has also been filled with lots of fantastic learning and the class have enjoyed working together with their peers to complete challenges and group tasks.

Today we had our first fire drill and it was great to see how much everyone had remembered about what we do during this event – well done!

We were also very lucky to have had a visit from our school Chaplin, Ian, who taught us how to play a funny memory game using the first letter of our name and food!

As part of our topic, ‘Marvellous Me!’, we began our new class book, ‘Super Duper You!’, and began to plan for writing our very own fact files about ourselves!

Well done on a great week, Room 5!

Room 1

Room 1 have enjoyed their first full week of school. They have been very busy learning all of our school routines, expectations and making lots of new friends.

This week we have been carrying out lots of fun  fine motor activities to help to strengthen our fingers to help prepare our hands for writing. The boys and girls have been hard at work learning all about rhyming. We learned the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty and are beginning to identify rhyming pairs. Room 1 have sang lots of number songs and read lots of stories.

A polite reminder:

A great week in Room 3!😊

In Room 3, we have had a super week getting to know everybody in our new class and making great friends. We have been working really hard to practise our morning and home time routines, lining up and getting our lunch.

As part of our Literacy learning this week, we have been looking at rhyming. We discussed that the best way to find a rhyming word is think of a word that sounds the same and usually looks similar. We are getting really quick at thinking up rhyming words now. We listened to the poem ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and identified rhyming words. Some of us even used time in our play to build walls and try to balance toy eggs on these. It was a great challenge. We also listened to the ‘When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears’ song. After listening to the song and discussing words that rhymed, we were surprised to find that Goldilocks had come into our room when we were playing outside and left us a note asking us to help her find some items around the classroom! We managed to find all of the objects and had great fun doing so.

We have another busy week next week, with P1 class photographs being taken for the newspaper on Wednesday 28th August. We will also be hosting our ‘Meet the Teacher’ event on Thursday 29th August, where we will provide information about the school and also give an overview of some learning throughout Primary 1. We look forward to welcoming you.

Thank you also to all parents and carers for supporting us throughout this first week. Have a lovely weekend!
