This week Room 7 have been thinking about our big question – what happened in the past? We have been talking about what we would like to learn and coming up with questions that we would like to answer.

One of the things we wanted to know was how the world was made, and today Iain from the chaplaincy team came to talk to us about how Christian’s believe the world was created. We will also look at beliefs from other faiths and investigate the Big Bang theory and evolution. It’s been really interesting to think about how the world started.
Here are some of the other things we enjoyed this week.
R – I liked doing the stars for the recognition board.
L – I liked doing maths.
I – I liked RE with Iain
H – I liked when Iain was here.
K – I liked playing with lego with Holly.
Have a lovely long weekend, and I will see you on Tuesday.

Today we hosted our ‘Primary 1 Learning Showcase’. It was a fabulous afternoon sharing our learning with our families. We had lots of activities ranging from rhyme work, number formation, fine motor and lots more! Our theme this week through our rhyme work has been Scotland so we also had some Scottish activities available too. We would like to thank you all for coming along, it really was appreciated.
Homework will be issued next week so please check school bags. If you require any further assistance with home learning, please get in touch.
We hope you all have a lovely long weekend and look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday. 🙂

This week in primary 1 we had the opportunity to share our learning with our families at the ‘Primary 1 Learning Showcase’. We had a fantastic time working through the different stations such as number formation, fine motor skills and lots more. The theme we have been focusing on this week in Primary 1 is Scotland, therefore we also got to create our own Scottish flag and build Scottish Landmarks. We hope all the families who attended had a lovely time. Homework will also begin next week and will be sent home on Wednesday. I hope you all have a fantastic September weekend!

Hi all,
During this short week we completed another chapter of Ottoline with Miss Higgins, and she taught us some interesting new words that we all worked hard with to add to our dictation at the end of the week.
“We practised our sketching skills with a Hogwarts picture.” L.C and H.G
“I was pleased I got so many words correct in Dictation.” A.B

Intro
I’m Eirini and I’m new to Newton Farm Primary.
I’m Callum. I started in our school Nursery when I was 3.
We’re both going to tell you about our first month in our new class.
We all love the pod and now we call it podlife. We even made groups for maths an literacy (sapphires, emeralds and rubies-literacy. Decimal dragons, shape shifters and math magicians-Maths)
UNCRC
We all made posters for the rights of the child. We all picked an article that we thought was important to a child then all did a poster on what you article you had picked.
Our Class Charter
Our class charter is a roller coaster. We all got into groups and Miss Kennedy took a photo of us in our groups and we had to design a carriage for us to go in then Miss Kennedy built the structure of it. Now all our carriages are on it.
Spelling
In spelling we have been learning about affixes and suffixes. We have also been learning that when an when ‘f ‘ is at the end of a word and you want to put a ‘s’ on the end you put a ‘ves’ on the end like leaf – leaves.

Good afternoon,
The children have been working incredibly hard and showing enthusiasm in everything they’ve done. One of the highlights of the week was our food tasting session, inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children absolutely loved exploring different fruits and foods from the story – there were lots of happy faces (and some funny ones!) as they tried new flavours and shared their thoughts.
Here are some of our favourite parts of the week:
EM – I liked playing red light, green light at PE.
EJ – I liked playing tig at PE.
KH – I liked tasting strawberries.
CH – I liked balancing a bean bag on my head at PE
MH – I liked balancing the bean bags at PE.
LF – I liked tasting salami.
ED – I liked singing songs at assembly.
AB – I liked learning the Boom Boom Cha song at assembly with Mr Allan.
ZA – I liked tasting the pickles.
KA – I liked balancing bean bags on my shoulder and foot at PE.
I am so proud of all their efforts this week – well done, everyone!
