Room 19

This week in Room 19 we have been continuing to learn about decimals including tenths, hundredths and thousandths. We have focused on addition and have been adding various quantities of money.

In our literacy time, we have been continuing with our class novel Dark Isle and looking at contractions and how they are used.

During P.E. time we have been enjoying learning netball skills and playing mini, but very competitive, games between teams.

A Week in the Life of Room 27

In Room 27 we have been working hard on our spelling and reading. For writing, we were creating exciting endings for imaginative stories. This was our final piece of narrative writing – ask us what we have learnt about the features of narrative.

In Maths, we have been rounding the the nearest 100 and 10 and also using compass points with angles. We were challenging ourselves with new angle sizes such as 135 degrees.

In Health and Wellbeing we have been thinking about how we can take care of ourselves and used the Emotion Works cog model to think of ‘regulation strategies’. We have been learning about positive affirmations and how giving compliments and helping others can help us to feel good.

We have been doing gymnastics, football and basketball in PE.

We got together with all of the other P5 classes this morning to discuss ideas for our next topic. We will now vote to choose the most popular.

In French, we were learning the numbers up to 31. This will help us with saying the date in French.

“I really enjoyed doing gymnastics for PE.” AG

“I enjoyed counting up to 31 in French.” AR

“I enjoyed making the gymnastics routine and showing it.” MN

“I liked doing the rounding in Maths.” HT

“I liked that we are getting to choose our new topic.” LK

“I really liked basketball.” OB

“I liked playing French bingo.” KH

Have a good weekend.

Room 5

This week passed by in a flash, with lots of fun activities and great learning!

We spent the week consolidating some of the sounds we have found trickier-  wh, ph, oy, ai and qu.  The children did lots of activities including phoneme flowers, matching words to pictures and having a go at writing some sentences with our words.

We have been working really hard on our subtraction, learning to use a number line, memorising our bonds to 10, partitioning numbers and counting on.  We will be moving onto Shape next week but it would be great to continue doing some mental maths at home, particularly number bonds to 10 and 20.

Our topic on The Colour Monster produced some amazing writing today.  The kids learnt about adjectives and similes and had some great ideas! We can’t wait to show off our work at Parent’s Evening.

This afternoon we finished we some free play stations, including lego, playdoh and junk modelling.  As you can imagine the classroom was turned upside down but the children came out with some fantastic creations.

Finally, a big ‘well done’ to Tsijiari who has taken home Nelly for the weekend.  I hope you all have a fantastic long weekend and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday.

A fun filled week in Room 6!

September 26, 2024 by Miss Livingstone | 0 comments

This week in Room 6 we have been revising all our phonemes that we learned so far. We spent time reading the Colour Monster, and talking about how it feels to be mixed up, and how to separate our own feelings. We used different coloured counters to visualise it, and separated them into their colours to represent each emotion then created our own colour monster! We also done some drama representing which each emotion would look like! It was so much fun. Today during our free play we had lots of materials for junk modelling, and we all created something different.

Another fun filled week with lots of learning and creating, well done Room 6!

Have a fantastic September weekend, we can’t wait to hear about your adventures on Tuesday.

⭐ WOW Challenge – September ⭐

A huge well done to all our pupils who have made at least one active journey to or from school each week this month, and have now earned their WOW badge for September 🤩 A whopping 594 badges have been issued across the school! In anticipation of a higher percentage of pupils earning a badge, we had to order two more bundles of badges at the tail end of last week. We are now awaiting a third extra badge delivery for all remaining pupils who have earned one. We hope to get these to you soon!

Thank you to all our parents and carers for supporting our mission to reduce congestion around our school and for encouraging your children to make active journeys. We can’t wait to see how many October badges are earned!

Room 24

In room 24 we have been learning how to read and plot coordinate points. We plotted coordinates that created the image of a helicopter, we solved a murder mystery by answering all the co-ordinates questions and then we got to complete a treasure hunt using grid references.

We also completed session 3 of our P7 sidekicks training this week with room 21 and Katy, our active schools coordinator. We had lots of fun learning how to support younger pupils when playing games using the N.E.D.S acronym:

N = Remember to tell them your names and also the name of your game

E = Explain the games and have your equipment you need

D = Demonstrate the games so they know how to play them

S = Start the game and support the children as they play it

Some of us will be supporting the P2s at their Monday after school club soon. We can’t wait!

Primary 1 Learning Showcase! :-)

Today we hosted our Primary 1 Learning Showcase. It was a child-led visit, where the children could showcase some of the learning from over the past few weeks.

We would just like to thank all the parents/carers who attended today. It was a fantastic afternoon and all the boys and girls really enjoyed having their families back into their classrooms. Lots of learning took place across different themes and also in our child-led play areas. Thank you for your support in making this a memorable afternoon.

We hope you all have a fantastic September break and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 1st October.

Miss Mulreany, Mrs Ventre and Mrs Rae 🙂
