Our Week in Room 21

Did you know that 70% of the Earth’s surface is made up of water? We learned this amazing fact this week while learning about the water cycle. We carried out an experiment using sandwich bags and blue-coloured water to see evaporation, condensation and precipitation in action. Take a look at our photos to see them on our class windows.

At the start of the week, we had a lesson from an Uddingston Grammar PE teacher. He taught us how to play Shinty and will come each Monday over the next 4 weeks  so we can learn more.

We started our new topics this week too. The P6s have been studying Europe and the P7s are working with Rooms 23 and 24 to take part in the Digi-Inventors Challenge, which is a STEM project.

Our Week in Room 21

January 19, 2024 by Miss Napier | 0 comments

We have begun to conclude our WW2 learning this week and had fun using our measuring and baking skills to make fork biscuits (a ration recipe) and develop our sewing skills, whilst learning about the ‘Make Do and Mend’ campaign. The class realised how tricky it can be to thread a needle and knot one end before even getting to the stitching part! We’ll continue our sewing skills next week when we finish sewing on a button and repairing a rip in the pieces of fabric we have. We’ll also take a look at how the war finally ended and study what VE Day is.

Our Week in Room 21

December 15, 2023 by Miss Napier | 0 comments

It’s been another jam-packed week in room 21!

We’ve been making good headway with our model Spitfires and Lancaster bombers. We’ve created the main shapes of our aircraft using junk modelling materials, coated the models with paper mache and have been able to put the first coat of paint on. We’ll do the second coat and add all the finishing touches to them early next week.

After lots and lots of practising, we were able to perform our Christmas concert songs to our families. We had great fun and hope everyone now has the Christmas Duck Song stuck in their heads!

We’re now looking forward to our Christmas party on Monday! 🎅🏼🎄

🦺 Be Bright Day 24th November 🦺

November 24, 2023 by Miss Napier | 0 comments

Well… Our Be Bright Day as been an incredible success! It’s been amazing to see so many of our pupils in super bright and reflective clothing to raise awareness of staying safe and seen in the darker months. The JRSOs and WOW ambassadors have been very impressed with the effort that everyone has gone to. Thank you parents and carers with your help in this too!

The JRSOs have been visiting all pupils at their assemblies this week to talk about road safety and staying safe and seen too. They’ve put in a huge amount of effort, along with the WOW ambassadors, to organise the event.

Each class has now had their brightest winners announced and the brightest staff have been selected as well. I think you’ll agree they look dazzling 🤩 These winners received their goody bags and certificates today and came together for a big photo.

Every pupil in the school also received a reflective pack/keyring to take home, courtesy of our fabulous parent council. A huge thank you to you for helping to make our Be Bright day an even bigger success.

Our Week in Room 21

November 24, 2023 by Miss Napier | 0 comments

This week in room 21 we completed our Christmas craft which were our cute little gonks! Make sure you come along to the fayre on Saturday 25th to buy some!

For our WW2 topic learning this week, we took part in the Dynamo Challenge. We had to work in 3 teams (land, sea and air) to consider how we could rescue the troops that were stranded on Dunkirk Beach. This was from the view point of being officers or officials in the navy, army or air force. It was really tricky trying to think of the best thing to do that would save the most amount of men.

On Friday we celebrated Be Bright Day. We got given reflective keyrings from the parent council and the brightest winner from our class was chosen. It’s been a busy but fun week!
