This week in Room 5, we have been learning how to calculate the area of a shape. We have been completing lots of active tasks, using different units of measurement and measuring tools, and putting all we have learned into practice. We spent some time measuring in cm squared, and calculating the area of really large shapes, and also of shapes that are different from squares and rectangles.
Here is our pupil voice:
Xayah: We were exploring outside looking at shapes.
Reiss: We are learning about area and measuring the inside of shapes.
Eilidh: We drew shapes and counted the squares inside to find the area.
Alice: I enjoyed exploring area and I learned how to times the numbers together. We found the area of lots of different things from around the classroom,
Beth: We were using different materials with the cubes to measure.
Sam: We were learning about cubes and the area of shapes.
Reminder:
P.E – Thursday (indoor), Friday (outdoor)
Homework will be issued on a Tuesday, bring it back on a Monday. N0 homework this week has been issued π
