Welcome to the Room 6 Showcase!

What a brilliant afternoon we had! A huge thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and carers who managed to join us for our Room 6 Showcase. We were jumping up and down all week because we were so excited to show you our classroom and all the hard work we do.

Here is a big list of all the fun things we did together!

Making Crazy Characters!

First, we all sat on the carpet for a special computing task, but we didn’t even use computers! We taught you a massive word: Algorithm.

An algorithm just means following instructions step-by-step. We had to give you the rules to draw our very own Crazy Characters. It was so funny because if we said the instructions in the wrong order, our characters ended up with eyes on their knees instead of their heads!

Showing You Our Learning Stations

After that, the classroom was open and we got to be the bosses! We got to choose which stations to take you to and show you how to do the activities.

Station 1: Cut and Paste Sounds! We used our scissors to cut out our phonemes and pasted them down to make words. All that cutting makes our fingers really strong for writing!
Station 2: Playing Dominoes! We sat down with you to play dominoes. We showed you how we are getting really fast at looking at the dots and knowing the number without even having to count them!
Station 3: Magic Mirrors! We showed you how to find lines of symmetry. We put small mirrors on shapes to see if we could make them look exactly the same on both sides. It looked like magic!
Station 4: Tricky Letter Boards! At this table, we used the letter boards to spell out our tricky words and phoneme sounds. It is really fun to build words with our hands instead of always using a pencil.
The Play Area! This is our favourite part of the classroom! We loved taking you into our play area, sharing our toys, and making up fun games with you.
