This week, our P1/2 class has been very busy and engaged in lots of exciting learning activities.
On Monday, we had a very special surprise visit from some firefighters. As part of our learning about “People Who Help Us,” we have been linking this to our Scottish Islands topic. We explored how the roles of emergency services in Glasgow compare to those on the islands, and how they help keep people safe in different environments.
During their visit, the firefighters spoke to the children about the important work they do and the different situations they respond to. They also taught us how to dial 999 and what to say if we ever find ourselves in an emergency.
After the talk, we then went outside to see the fire engine. The children were very excited to sit inside, explore the vehicle, and learn more about the equipment. Everyone even had a turn using the fire hose, which was definitely a highlight of the day!
