Yesterday in the middle of our maths session, we had a surprise knock at our class door. It was a group of Firefighters. We have been learning all about the emergency services as part of our Health and Wellbeing topic. We have been learning about their job roles, their uniforms and methods of transport that they use when responding to emergencies.
The Firefighters spoke to us about some of the jobs that they do. They also told us how to dial 999 if we find ourselves in an emergency situation. We were then invited out to see the fire engine. We sat inside and had a look around the engine and also had a turn at using the fire hose!

MJ – We got to spray the water hose.
AH – When I was spraying the hose, the water went into my face.
IJ – I liked when I sat in the fire truck.
SC – I liked being in the fire truck.
KH – I liked spraying the hose.
NP – I liked when someone soaked my teacher.
LM – I liked going into the fire truck and I had loads of fun.
IC – I liked spraying the hose and going in the fire truck. The fire service people were showing me what the people do.
CM – It was really fun going in the fire truck.
OMcM – I liked when we were learning about fire safety.
We would like to say a massive thank you to the fire service for coming out to visit us. We had a great time! π
