Room 5

This week in Room 5 we learned another new sound, ‘au’ for sauce. The children really enjoyed coming up with their own silly sentences that will help them remember how to spell au words. In writing, we looked at how we can make our sentences better and focused on what a scrambled sentence looks like, how to spot it and how to fix it. For maths, we completed our focus on halving and dividing by 2 and we also started a non number topic of Time. The children loved having the clocks out and practicing all the different o’clock and half past times.

The children have been enjoying practicing their songs for the Christmas Concert, and we got to practice this on the stage on Friday. Some children have asked for a speaking part and they have had their line sent home. Please feel free to keep practicing these songs at home, as the children are fantastic at singing them!

For the next two weeks, we will be focusing on revising all our taught number topics so far to make sure we are completely secure before moving on to new topics.
