Newton Farm Primary School and Nursery Class

Room 5 become Artists

This week Room 5 learnt about Pablo Picasso and had a go at making a self portrait in his style of Cubism.

Our sound this week was ‘oy’ and children experienced using elkonin boxes to split the sounds into boxes when writing their words.  They also completed a phoneme flower and tried to use the words to write a sentence, e.g. The boy played with the toy.

We are continuing with our addition, and some of the children were becoming masters in maths as they worked out the missing numbers within the sums, e.g. 6 + __ = 11

We have been speaking about going to the toilet during class time and trying to encourage children to use their snack, break and lunch times for trips to the toilet.  We are also talking a lot about taking care of the resources and the toys in our classroom.  A few things have been broken, which makes us sad.

We wrote about our favourite hobby with the help of all the lovely photos you sent in, so thank you!

Big Congratulations to Amelia who is taking home our class mascot ‘Nelly’ this week.
