Our Week in Room 20

In Room 20 we have got up to lots of fun things this week and we can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Handwriting

We took paragraphs from the news about Lego and the blocks not being environmentally friendly.  We had to write it down in our handwriting jotters with joined up writing.

Class Novel

We finished our class novel ‘I Swapped My Brother on the Internet’.  The book was about a boy and his brother.  The boy called Jonny swapped his brother Ted on the internet.  He got lots of replacements and in the end he learned that his brother wasn’t all that bad after all.  We thought it was a really good book because it was funny and full of surprises.  We voted on our new book and started it today.  It’s called ‘The Name of this Book is a Secret’.

Outdoor PE

On Monday with Mr. McKay, we were doing rugby related games.  We were learning the skills of ball handling, passing and blocking.

On Thursday, we did games time with Room 19 with football, rounders or a chance for us to make our own games.  We were having great fun until torrential rain came on suddenly and we got drenched!

Conferencing

We were doing conferencing for the first time.  This is when we peer assess each others writing. We highlighted target sheets to show what we did well and what we need to work on.  We set next steps to work on in our writing this week.

Taught Writing

We all wrote a story with our own ideas about ‘The Mysterious Wonder’.  We got this idea from the Nowhere Emporium which has lots of magical rooms in it.  We learned about having a problem, escalation and resolution to write a detailed narrative.

We’ve all worked really hard and someone even got Mr. JC’s super special stamp for some amazing work!

We’ve had a really good week and we will get up to lots more stuff next week!
