Maths & Numeracy – To start us off, we’ve been learning about positive mathematical mindsets. We answered questions about how we feel about maths, what we do when things get tricky and what strategies we can use help us. We’ve also been learning how to play lots of different math & numeracy games such as Countdown, NIM, Guess the Number and Closest to 100/1000. (ZK-B & MM)

Literacy – We’ve already started our class reading novel called High Rise Mystery by Sharna Jackson. It’s a murder mystery book and it’s been really interesting so far. We’ve been learning how to work together in reciprocal reading groups. It was quite strange at first because its so different but with more practise we’ll be great at it! There are different reading jobs for the group members and this week we had readers, clarifiers, inferrers and questioners. (PM, JC & CM)

Art – We created portraits of ourselves but with a twist. We used carbon paper to trace over photographs of ourselves, outlined them and then used watercolours for the background. We’ve put these up outside our classroom, take a look if you’re walking by! (EM & CP)

Class Charter – Miss Napier gave us a ‘Do you know your rights?’ quiz and then we used our knowledge to create our Class Rights Charter. We’ve chosen a different way to sign our charter this year by creating a collage of all our interests in the shape of our first initial. We’re in the process of finishing these and will add them to our display next week.

Buddying – As P7s, we’ve all been given new P1 Buddies to support during their first year at primary school. It’s been fun getting to know them and playing with them during some break and lunch times. (MS, RS & JC)
