Scottish Set Text

Most classes will be studying poetry for their Scottish Set text. This means you will understand and analyse the poet’s language and structure through textual analysis questions. Part of the poem will be given to you and you will answer the first set of questions on this poem. Then, your challenge is to answer the final question in which you will compare the given poem to AT LEAST 1 other that you have studied. If you are studying Drama or Prose for your set text;  a portion of the text will be given  to answer questions on and the final question will ask you to compare the given section to the entire text.

Set text is scored out of 20 marks. The first set of marks come from the given textual analysis. The rest of the marks:
Final q for National 5: 8 marks
Final q for Higher: 10 marks

We recommend that you take time to annotate your Scottish Set Text first. You will do this in class and should revise your annotations at home. You may consider getting a blank copy to annotate again as extra revision.
