Homework

We start every period of class with 10 minutes of private reading. English classes visit the library to check out and exchange books fortnightly. Pupils may wish to bring in their own books from home. While we have on-going reading in class throughout the year, pupils MUST read at home every week. Pupils will also write book-reports as part of their classroom work and homework.  We will track and monitor the Reading Record which is glued to the back of each jotter.

You must read for at least one hour every week and aim to finish a book each month.

In addition, homework can be provided in many forms. English teachers will set homework on:

-Texts studied in class
-Research for a topic
-Language/grammar skills
-Finishing a draft or final copy (of writing)
-Close reading practice + skills
-Revision for assessments
