World Refugee Day

Pupils and teachers from Hillhead High School’s Amnesty International Youth Group took part in a celebration of solidarity at George Square this morning to mark World Refugee Day. This event marks the start of the month long Scottish Refugee Festival and was organised by the Scottish Refugee Council, Amnesty International Scotland and Oxfam Scotland.

There was a great atmosphere in George Square with Glasgow youth band Samba Yabamba providing the sound track while participants linked arms to form a human chain across the square.The education coordinator for Scottish Amnesty was delighted to see Hillhead High’s Amnesty Group taking part. Pollokshields Primary School were there too.
