Last Week in P3a

After the success and hard work of our showcase we had a more relaxed time last week doing a little bit of revision at the start of the week.  We wrote a setting description of Andy’s room from Toy Story and worked on our different multiplication and division strategies.  Later on in the week we were looking at number patterns and worked on our fitness in PE.  In our topic work we learned about the Viking Longships and made information posters.

They children also had fun working together to see how big a tower they could build with the straws. They managed to get it to reach the roof!

P3a Update

Primary 3 have had a very busy week rehearsing and completing work for our Easter showcase, which was today. They delivered their lines fantastically, sang loudly and danced with enthusiasm. I am extremely proud of every single one of them as they all had to speak and it can be very scary when you have an audience.  Our learning this week in maths was on interpreting pictographs. We also combined our maths and our art skills to help us learn about symmetry.  You may have spotted our fabulous symmetry butterflies on the wall at the showcase.

Parents Evening Update – March 2025

Thank you to all of our families who attended our Parents Evening over the last couple of weeks. It was lovely to see so many of you.

We value the experience to meet with families to discuss pupil progress and next steps in learning. If for any reason you were unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please contact the school to arrange a mutually suitable time to meet with your child’s Class Teacher.

Thank you also to everyone who engaged in our Family Learning Consultation. 95% of families who participate felt that they would benefit from a Family Learning website, that demonstrates ways in which parents/carers can engage in learning with their children. As a result of this feedback we have started to create our bespoke website that we plan to launch in Term 4 of this session.

Nurture at Wallacewell Primary – What does it mean?

Today at assembly we have been learning about one of our values – NURTURE.

We know that to grow and develop we all need NURTURE.

We know that to be NURTURED means you have a caring and stimulating place to live and grow.

We know that part of being NURTURED is being recognised that you are unique.

We all want and need to be NURTURED. It helps us to grow and develop.

P3a Weekly Update

Last week we created our own surveys to ask the class and then displayed our data in a bar graph.  We were also working on using number lines to help solve subtraction calculations.

We celebrated World Book Day with a special assembly where some children shared a part of a book they enjoy.  In class we made corner bookmarks to put on our own reading books and completed a Book Day quiz.

Finally we completed our tulip pictures by painting them and they are looking fantastic.

This week in P3a….

This week in literacy we were learning how to use commas in a list as well as completing tasks related to our reading books.  In maths we moved on to data handling and learned how to display and read data on a bar graph. In our topic work we created a timeline to show the main events of the vikings. We ended our week with some spring art based on the style of the famous artist Romero Britto. Some children have began to paint theirs and they are looking fantastic.

Improving Attendance – Every Day Counts

At Wallacewell Primary we are passionate about getting it right for the pupils we work with. In order for us to meet learners needs, we require pupils to be in school and on time each day. Missing school negatively impacts on pupils academic, emotional and social development.

P3a Short Week

It was a short week last week but we still found time to get lots of learning done and have some fun.  We are still working on our recount writing and making sure we are including some details in our writing.  In maths we were using compass points and our angles knowledge to be able to follow directions.  We began learning about where the Viking’s came from and where they invaded. Lastly we had a visit from one of the staff from Golf it and had fun practising our golf skills. ⛳️
