Primary 2a End of Term 3

Term 3 completed for P2a. It was a very long and busy term but the class worked extremely hard throughout.

The class learned all about money, they were working on their coin recognition, adding coins together and calculating change. They also done amazingly well during their data handling lessons, they used graphs and tally marks to help collate information. Most recently they learned about grid references which they done with great confidence.

P2a were incredible with their spelling this term, there was some excellent results in their spelling tests and it has helped improve their reading and writing. The class really enjoyed learning all the magic e sounds.

The pieces of writing produced this term were exceptional. After their hard work on setting writing the class completed a series of lessons on character writing. In these lessons the class planned and created their own monsters using amazing adjectives to describe them.

In the playroom the children loved learning about living things through the changes topic. They showed lots of great teamwork to create different art pieces and build magnificent structures.

This final week was full of Easter fun. The class created their own Easter bunnies and 3D Easter art.

Parents Evening Update – March 2025

Thank you to all of our families who attended our Parents Evening over the last couple of weeks. It was lovely to see so many of you.

We value the experience to meet with families to discuss pupil progress and next steps in learning. If for any reason you were unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please contact the school to arrange a mutually suitable time to meet with your child’s Class Teacher.

Thank you also to everyone who engaged in our Family Learning Consultation. 95% of families who participate felt that they would benefit from a Family Learning website, that demonstrates ways in which parents/carers can engage in learning with their children. As a result of this feedback we have started to create our bespoke website that we plan to launch in Term 4 of this session.

Nurture at Wallacewell Primary – What does it mean?

Today at assembly we have been learning about one of our values – NURTURE.

We know that to grow and develop we all need NURTURE.

We know that to be NURTURED means you have a caring and stimulating place to live and grow.

We know that part of being NURTURED is being recognised that you are unique.

We all want and need to be NURTURED. It helps us to grow and develop.

P2a Term 3 Update

P2a have worked extremely hard and had loads of fun during term 3.

The children have loved learning about money and using the concrete materials to improve their coin recognition. They have been learning how to add up coins to make different values using different combinations. We will be moving on to calculating change next.

We are all very proud of the incredible work the class have done in writing. We have described many different settings including Andy’s Room and Pizza Planet from Toy Story, the fish tank from Nemo and a Gingerbread house. The class have been using loads of adjectives and connectives to improve their sentences and we have been working on using our senses to describe the settings.

In the playroom we were learning about the NHS which has been a huge favourite among the class with many showing great interests in the roles of doctors and nurses and other emergency services. We have now moved onto changes in the playroom.

P2a were also very lucky recently to have a golf lesson where they learned about golf clubs and practised their putting. We also finished our rugby block which the kids loved and they really impressed the coach with how much they improved and worked as a team.

Improving Attendance – Every Day Counts

At Wallacewell Primary we are passionate about getting it right for the pupils we work with. In order for us to meet learners needs, we require pupils to be in school and on time each day. Missing school negatively impacts on pupils academic, emotional and social development.
