The Health Sector is one of the largest employers in the country and provides employment opportunities through a varied range of disciplines. This course is an introduction to the Health Sector, looking specifically at our NHS provision both nationally and locally.
The course is made up of five units, each with a large proportion of the time spent researching:
- Working in the Health Sector – Researching careers in the health sector that require a medical background.
- Life Sciences Industry and the Health Sector – Looking at how technology products and pharmaceuticals are used and brought into use.
- Improving Health and Wellbeing – Investigates the care provided along a patient journey.
- Physiology of the Cardiovascular System – Practical activities and some research in maintaining an individual’s healthy heart and lifestyle.
- Working in Non Clinical Roles – Researching careers in the health sector that do not require a medical background.
At Hillpark, the Health Sector course is available at National 5 level and is internally assessed with progress being made at your own pace.
