GP1-2 Pirate Open Morning
GP1-2 invited parents and grandparents into their class for a pirate morning. All the children dressed up as pirates and had lots of fun sharing their learning with those that came along. They also sang 2 songs about pirates that they learnt with Mr Maciver.Â
REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY
Parents and friends are warmly invited to our Remembrance Day Assembly on Friday 10th November 2017 at 1:30pm in Sgoil a’ Bhac School Hall. We look forward to seeing as many of you as are able to attend.
Blythswood’s Shoebox Appeal
Grateful thanks must go to all those whose generosity meant that 102 Shoeboxes from Sgoil a’ Bhac  were loaded up into cars this afternoon to be taken to the collection point in Stornoway. There, they will be checked and packed ready for their onward journey to some of the poorest regions within Eastern Europe. This is a phenomenal effort on the part of pupils, parents and staff and our hope is that the Sgoil a’ Bhac shoeboxes will bring much needed comfort and joy to those who need it in the coming weeks.
BLYTHSWOOD SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
We were absolutely delighted to have Rhona Matheson from Blythswood in school on Wednesday 11th October 2017 for a joint Assembly with Sgoil a’ Bhac and Tolsta Primary School. Rhona came to tell us all about the Shoebox Appeal for this year.
Shoebox leaflets were distributed to all pupils earlier in the month and already we are seeing them coming in. Please have your shoeboxes in school by Friday 27th October 2017

G1-2 Sponsored Walk and Silence
G1-2 did a water focused topic at the beginning of Term 3. The children suggested giving money to children in deprived countries who don’t have clean water to drink. As a class we decided to do a sponsored walk and silence to raise money for UNICEF. The children walked 2.2 miles this morning and then participated in a silence for 1 hour 20 mins!! Didn’t they do well! Some parents joined us for the walk and Finlay’s dad drove the support car for us. We are overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity…..we have raised almost ÂŁ600!!!
We started at the school!Â
Some of the parents joined us!
We had coffee and cake once we had finished.
Just finished the silence. Well done!!
Sharing the Learning at Pupil-Led Events
Today, we held our annual pupil-led events with our Sgoil Araich, E1-2 and G1-3 classes welcoming parents to visit in the afternoon and our other classes in the evening.
The children thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to share with parents and families the learning they’ve been doing throughout this year and we’d like to thank everyone who was able to join us during both the afternoon and the evening.
We’d also like to thank our pupils and staff for all the hard work they put into preparing for this event.
Welcome to our new P1s
P2 and P3 ‘Fun Fours’ Football
Some of our P2 and P3 pupils took part in a special football festival for Lewis schools today. It was organised by the Council’s Sport Development and Active Schools teams. This festival aimed to enhance children’s ability to run, throw, jump and kick the ball and to develop balance and co-ordination through playing four-a-side football games. All our pupils did really well and enjoyed their day. Thank you to Mrs Graham (G1-3), Mr Macdonald (Janitor) and Mrs Macdonald (Parent) for escorting the pupils to this event.
The picture below shows them returning to school with their certificates of participation.
