Communication Problems
Following the power cuts over the last 48 hours, the school’s communications have been badly affected. We have been without phonelines and internet access for most of today. Late this afternoon our internet provision was restored, allowing us now to receive e-mails from parents (backschool@gnes.net) but we continue to have difficulty with both our main and back-up phonelines. We have been working with the Council’s IT staff and BT to resolve the issue and hope to have our phonelines operational again tomorrow.
Our apologies for any inconvenience caused to people who were attempting to contact the school today.

We continue to advise parents to assess the safety and suitability of individual journeys to school. Please continue to monitor CNES and school websites and media feeds for information.
School Closure – 10/12/14
CNES has announced the closure of all Western Isles schools and nurseries to pupils tomorrow (10/12/14). We expect the school to be open as normal on Thursday but would continue to advise parents to check the school website, social media feeds and news outlets for the latest information. The canteen Christmas lunch will be rescheduled.
Christmas Assembly – All Welcome
We will be holding our annual Christmas Assembly with Rev. Macleod on the morning of Friday 12th December at 10.00am. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all parents and families to join us for the assembly and also to join us for tea and mince pies afterwards.
The children and staff will be sporting their Christmas jumpers that morning in support of the Save the Children appeal. Any guests joining us for the assembly are welcome to also wear a Christmas jumper!
Severe Weather – 09/12/14

School Christmas Performances
This year, we will be hosting two seasonal concert performances. The main school concert ‘Cinderella’ will take place on Tuesday 16th December at 7.00pm. Ticket availability will be limited so please make sure that booking slips are returned promptly. Tickets are free-of-charge but a collection will be made at the door in aid of Bethesda.
In addition, we will be holding a special ‘Seall Seo’ performance of ‘Santa agus na Paidhs aig Gordon Diesel’, a Christmas play written and performed by our Gaelic Medium pupils in conjuction with Proiseact na Ealan. Children in Need 2014
We had a very successful Children in Need day at Sgoil a’ Bhac this year, with an amazing total of £436.69 being raised through a fancy dress day, a bake sale, tombola, face painting and competitions. We would like to express our thanks to all the parents who supported us by donating baking to the sale. It was a huge hit with pupils and added a great deal to our final total. We would also like to thank parents and families for helping children to create brilliant costumes for the day.
