DO YOUR BEST BOYS!

As we start another new day with sunshine, we are thinking of our Gaelic Medium boys who went off yesterday afternoon on the ferry with Dano and Mrs Maclennan. The boys are representing the Western Isles in the Cuach na Cloinne Finals today in Bught Park in Inverness.  Six teams have qualified to compete for the trophy this year. Our boys will be up against teams from Iochdar, Portree, Craighill (Tain), Bun Sgoil Ghaidhlig Loch Abair and Bun Sgoil Gaidhlig Glaschu primary schools.  We wish them well and know that they will do their very best. We will hear how they have got on later in the day.

IT’S THE GIRLS’ TURN NOW!

Congratulations to the girls of Back and Tolsta who last night won their Netball competition in the Lewis Sports Centre in style! This session there were not enough girls in Sgoil a’ Bhac to make two teams for Netball and so an invitation was extended to the P6-7 girls in Tolsta School to join them. Six girls from Tolsta joined the Sgoil a’ Bhac girls weekly for Netball coaching and practice and new friendships were formed over the course of the session. When it came time to enter the annual Netball Competition in the Sport and Health Team’s calendar two mixed teams comprising the girls from Back and Tolsta were entered. To our amazement and utter delight the teams took 1st and 2nd place in the competition. A massive well done to BTTB and the BT Bone Crushers. We also wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our three coaches Angela Mackay, Margaret Macritchie and Norma Maciver who give up their time every Wednesday afternoon to coach the girls and put them through their paces. Well done ladies. Your efforts have helped to ensure that the pupils from both Sgoil a’ Bhac and Tolsta Primary School experience success.
