For my work experience I went to Our Lady off the Missions Primary School and worked as a teaching assistant for multiple classes and age groups ranging from age 4 to 11.I got this work experience by applying on the work it website then emailing the teacher who was in charge of work experience pupils and then she got back to me a couple days later informing me the details that I needed to know.

While in class I helped the class teacher with many things including marking jotters, tidying up, working with small groups or individual children at a time on different subjects. I enjoyed working with small groups or individual children as it gave me an idea of what teaching young children would be like. Working with the younger children and working with the older children have both very different jobs. When working with younger children (p1-p3) there is a lot more to do and help with as they need more help and support and during class and your always busy whereas with the older children (p4-p6) they are more independent and even though I did do tasks while working with them I wasn’t as busy as they could mostly do the work themseleves.Throughout my work experience I discovered I prefer working with the younger children (p1-p3) as it made me feel more like an employee rather than a pupil on work experience.

my work experience helped me as by talking to lots of people I didn’t know and speaking to groups of people it developed my confidence and made me think about teaching as a job even more.
