Hello S3!

Thank you for your continued hard work. I know it must seem rather repetitive but believe it or not this is the exact work that we would be doing in class at the moment! The only difference is that there would be more teacher examples and some group work.

Almost there! 3 skills to go – SOUND, LIGHTING AND STAGE MANAGEMENT. Then the holidays!

This week we will be looking at the role of the sound designer and the format of the work will be the same as usual:

1. Read the chapter on the role of the sound designer than re-read the extract thinking about sound design.

2. Watch the following videos –

National theatre – Designing sound for the theatre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGtX9P8gDI8&feature=share

Playing sound effects LIVE!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szyht9jc8PE&feature=share (this one is really fun!)

3. Complete the attached pupil booklet and email to me on cairnsk@st-ninians.e-renfrew.sch.uk

Any issues or questions please let me know,

Ms.  C   : )

S3 Drama

Hello all of S3! I hope you all had a nice break over the weekend!

For the week beginning the 11th of May we are going to be looking at the role of the props master.

I am going to ask once more that you please submit work to me on my school email address if possible, and not on Google Classrooms or Glow Mail as connectivity issues mean it is very difficult for me to access your work. From this point on you should be emailing your completed task booklet to me by on a weekly basis on cairnsk@st-ninians.e-renfrew.sch.uk ONLY. Thank you for your patience on this.

1. Read the attached chapter on the role of the props master.
2. Watch the videos below – they are only a few minutes long each and are quite fun and interesting:

3. Complete the attached pupil booklet on props and email to me. Remember to download and save a copy onto your own computer before making changes.

Please remember to also change the status of the task from ‘assigned’ to ‘handed in’ on Google Classroom if possible as this also helps me to keep track of who has completed their work. Thank you!

Production Skills – week beginning Monday 27th April

Hello S3!

I hope you were able to access the materials for the role of the Director.

We are now going to look at the role of the Actor within a professional theatre production. As many of us are having issues with GLOW connectivity your teachers have now been asked to post just one assignment a week per class.

Each week we will look at one member of the theatre production team. I will post the relevant textbook chapter, the pupil booklet for that skill (which should be downloaded and completed) and some video clips which will help deepen your learning.  To help us gather the evidence when we return to school please title the document with your name and the production skill e.g. “Sam Jones pupil booklet DIRECTING”.

Any issues please direct your questions to myself as Ms. Mitchell and I are setting work for different year groups.

Here is a video interview with our former pupil James McArdle who is now one of the most highly regarded stage actors in the UK. In this interview James explains how he approaches his work as an actor. James was sitting in our classroom just 12 years ago so I hope you find his hard work and success inspirational!

Ms. Cairns’ S3

Hello all of S3! The first thing that you should do is read the attached PowerPoint and then the script extract. You should then complete the Pupil booklet on directing. All tasks should be completed this week. Remember that you should save the booklet to your computer before making any changes. Please include your name in the title of the file e.g. “Sam Jones Shanghaied Pupil Booklet DIRECTING” as you will be asked to email these booklets to your teacher once we return to school. Please also remember to read the ACTING and DIRECTING chapters in your textbook. Any questions – please direct them to myself on google classroom or on my school email on cairnsk@st-ninians.e-renfrew.sch.uk as Ms.Mitchell and I are setting work for different year groups. Kind regards, Ms. Cairns.
