Sing and Dance for Sports Relief

Yell have been working hard raising money this week for Sport Relief.  On Monday we visited James Hamilton Loch for a sponsored walk and run.  Some people nearly ran twice round the loch, everyone managed at least one lap.  We had a nice hot chocolate in the cafe afterwards to warm us up again, as it was a little chilly!

In the afternoon we performed the dances and songs that we are filming for our Sport Relief video.  We’ll show it to classes on Friday at our Sport Relief event and get them to vote for their favourite!  Acts include ‘Connor Buble’, ‘Driver Craig and the Jai Who? Train’, ‘Jamie Andre’, ‘Luke Winhouse’ and ‘Fabio of the Opera’.  Get ready for some fun and laughs, all for a great cause

Class Whalsay Assembly

Class Whalsay organised the secondary assembly today. It was all about people who help us in the local community. The class made up a slideshow of all the people who help us and set up a quiz for the classes to take part in.
Thanks to Monsignor Monaghan for coming to see us and introduce the assembly. He told everyone that he was a friend of Dr Isobel Mair and she would be proud of the new school.

Mair for Us!

In August 2011 Mrs Wallace set IMS classes the £10 challenge, to see who could raise the most money for school funds.  Classes Whalsay, Shetland and Orkney successfully clubbed together to create and raffle a Luxury Christmas Hamper.  Following the success of this they have taken on the challenge of setting up and running a tuck shop for staff in IMS.  After a brain storming session they voted for the name – Mair for Us.  Following extensive market research the produce was bought and priced.  Now opening day has arrived!  The shop opened from 11.30 to 1pm, providing a range of treats to buy, with pupils from these classes working hard to ensure a high quality service.  The pupils have high hopes for a successful, money making tuck shop!

Good Luck everyone.

Swimming Gala

Good luck to pupils from Classes Cumbrae, Arran, Sanda and Mani from Tiree class who are taking part in the West of Scotland SEN Sports Association and Swimming Gala in Blantyre Leisure Pool tomorrow.

This is the first time that these classes have taken part so fingers crossed everything goes swimmingly!

GOOD LUCK
