Nail Bar
Spoil your fingers! Get pampered and get your nails painted by the very experienced Cassie and Chloe  from S5. A plain colour will cost £1 and a funky design will cost £1.50.

Leg Waxing
Some of our hairier members of staff ( Mr McLaughlin and Mr Holmes) have agreed to a sponsored leg wax!
Not only will we get to see them squirm, other staff members will be able to pull a strip off……………… for a small donation of course!

A wonderful event for a great cause, well done everyone.

Celebrating St Andrew’s Day

All classes celebrated St Andrew’s Day today.

Classes Staffa and Iona invited their parents into class this morning for a special Scottish morning  of coffee and cakes and then  they all enjoyed some class activities.

This afternoon we all came together to celebrate at our St Andrew’s Day assembly.

We  also celebrated swimming achievements from some of the pupils as Mrs Clarke handed out certificates.

During assembly, Loch awe drew the raffle for the hamper they were raffling as part of the £10 challenge each class was set by Mrs Wallace.

We are delighted to say that the lucky winner was Mrs Kidd from Class Shetland.

Loch Awe’s £10 Challenge

Loch Awe staff and pupils have put on their thinking caps to come up up with a creative idea for the annual £10 challenge set by Mrs Wallace.

They decided to raffle a St Andrew’s day hamper………….  staff  from Loch Awe very kindly donated scottish items to fill the hamper and tickets have been sold to all the staff and parents and to date they have raised………………………………………… top secret
We will reveal the total once the raffle has been drawn at assembly on Friday.

Tickets still available from Loch Awe up until  Friday lunchtime.

Open Morning

Class Tiree have invited all their parents into school this morning to help with an enterprise activity.

The class all voted on what they wanted to do for the open morning and this was the favourite.

It was decided to ask the parents to come to school and help with an enterprise activity, making items for the school’s Christmas Fair.

The pupils have been so excited and keen to have the parents onboard helping out with the craft activity.

Parents have just arrived and now  the creativity begins……. although they will be rewarded at the end with a coffee and mince pie.

Enjoy everyone.

Dance-a-thon@IMS

All the classes are busy preparing for the forthcoming danceathon, enterpise activity which takes place on Wednesday 31st October.

Our sessions will start at 9.30am with our dance therapist, Nicola and then working with a hip hop specialist in the afternoon. Our reels on wheels group will take part with a few wheelchair dances.

Lots of exctitng moves ahead from staff and pupils we think. If you need some practise click here.

All pupils will have a sponsor form to take home if you would like to sponsor them in their enterprise activity.

Visiting the Scottish Parliament

Class Orkney were quite excited today as they are off to visit the Scottish Parliament as part of their class topic.

They plan to visit  the Debating Chamber, Garden Lobby and one of the Committee Rooms. We look forward to hearing all about the visit later on today.

This is a return visit for Mrs Clark as she was at the Parliament last week with Mrs Wallace presenting at a conference.

Mair for Us!

In August 2011 Mrs Wallace set IMS classes the £10 challenge, to see who could raise the most money for school funds.  Classes Whalsay, Shetland and Orkney successfully clubbed together to create and raffle a Luxury Christmas Hamper.  Following the success of this they have taken on the challenge of setting up and running a tuck shop for staff in IMS.  After a brain storming session they voted for the name – Mair for Us.  Following extensive market research the produce was bought and priced.  Now opening day has arrived!  The shop opened from 11.30 to 1pm, providing a range of treats to buy, with pupils from these classes working hard to ensure a high quality service.  The pupils have high hopes for a successful, money making tuck shop!

Good Luck everyone.
