* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Moonbeams class found out who Willowbank School’s favourite Flintstones character is. We sent voting slips around all the classes, counted the results and showed these in a bar chart.

Bam-Bam and Pebbles got the most votes and are the most popular characters.

Comparing Houses in Kilmarnock

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Moonbeams class enjoyed our recent social education outing where we went on the school minibus and drove around Kilmarnock looking at different homes. We found modern houses, red sandstone houses, bungalows and flats. We compared them to the Stone Age cave homes we have looked at during our theme.

We did such a good job pointing out different homes that we had a special McDonalds Drive Thru treat!

FAOL – Enterprise

Last week we had a Macmillan snack morning with all of our friends in the primary corridor. On the Thursday we mixed together green food colouring and icing to make green icing and iced some biscuits and cakes for the event.

We set up a table in the corridor and all shared out our green foods with our friends.

FAOL – WHOLE SCHOOL

This was our class assembly. We had been reading the story “The Enormous Turnip” in class and it was about working together to complete a  task, as the farmer could not pull the turnip out of the ground on his own. We all sat at the front of the assembly hall facing our friends. We were able to hold up the different characters in the story. We also made our own enormous turnip to show all of our friends.

Friend or Foe?

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

As a class, we have been looking closely at what makes a good friend. We watched short animated clips of different characters and had to state whether we thought they were good friends or not.

We also looked at different images and stated whether the image shown would make a good friend or a not so good friend. We completed this task really well.
