Roon the Toon

The Transition Boys were Responsible Citizens when in Kilmarnock Town Centre on Thursday morning. We all walked from school and had a look round the shops to see if anyone had their Christmas decorations up yet and we did spot a  few. So as a wee reward for being so well behaved all the boys voted to get some chips before heading back to school. Great wee trip out.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

With the glut of pumpkins in Kilmarnock (Killiewe’en had passed, what’s this Hallowe’en thing?) the Transition boys decided to make pumpkin pie. They were all Effective Contributors when they read and followed the recipe.  Skills included; weighing, measuring, melting, grating and baking. They were Responsible Citizens when working with the hot oven, ensuring everyone was safe. They also took the time to practice their spreading and cutting skills by having a tea and toast social. A great Autumnal feast!

Lads Loving Literacy!

The Transition class was a hum of quiet focussed activity when the boys took part in their literacy lesson this week. They were all Confident Individuals when taking part in their own reading tasks. Their tasks included reading and answering questions on a chapter of a chosen book, finding key words to share the theme and describing what they see, think and wonder. Every boy made an excellent effort – well done!

What’s it all about?

The Transition boys were Successful Learners when they worked hard on their literacy skills. They picked a book which they thought would be enjoyable and told Mr Nicoll all about the main theme from text and picture clues. Good book detective work boys!

Can’t Stop The Feeling!

All the boys (and staff) form the Transition Class had an absolute ball today when we were visited by Suzanne and Tracy from Singing Hands. The boys were all Confident Individuals as they sang and danced their hearts out all afternoon. A massive thank you to everyone involved and we hope they come back to visit soon.

Our Favourite Highland Coo!

This week in Transition, the boys have been hard at work to create a McCoo portrait in time for Thursday when we had a visit from Harris McCoo himself.

All the boys loved practising the Harris McCoo song and danced along when we had our visitors; Steven Brown, Murray Gee Mac and Harris McCoo
