Stars Activities 6

Hi everyone. Hope you are all well and keeping busy despite the poorer weather. The sun is shining today. Long may that continue. 🌞🌈

This week is diggidabble week so we thought it might be good to do some activities involving technology. 💻📸

COLOUR TREASURE HUNT

Borrow a camera, phone or tablet and look around the house and garden for things that are red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, pink or black. Take a photograph of what you find. Mrs Chisholm and Mrs Westerman found these coloured things in their homes.

Stars Pea Head and Car Ramp Activities

Mrs Logan has been busy making the Pea Head person from this week’s blog. She decorated a cup with a face, filled it with compost and planted seeds in it. It will be kept well watered in her greenhouse. Mrs Logan used cress seeds instead of peas. She will send you a photo once the cress ‘hair’ has grown.

Mrs Chisholm has built a car ramp with her children. They are having great fun racing cars and seeing how far the cars travel if you make the ramp steeper.

Why don’t you try making these. Send in some photo’s if you do.

Have Fun! Stay Safe! ❤😊

Stars Sensory Sound Bottles

Mrs Gardner has been busy trying an activity from this weeks class challenge. I have made a selection of sensory sound bottles. They were easy to make and all sounded so different. Why not try making some for yourself.

Comets-At Home

Hi, hope everyone is doing well! Here are a few fun activities you can try this week if you wish

  1. Big Bird Watch- Before we stopped we had been taking part in the  Great British  bird watch. Have a look out your window, in your garden or when you are out for a walk. How many birds can you see? What colour are the birds? Are they big or small?

You could even feed the birds to help spot them!

  1. Jungle Book- Our theme this term was the jungle book, and we were all enjoying listening to all the songs! Can you have some fun singing and dancing along  to all the Jungle book songs. What was your favourite? I really like the ‘Bare Necessities’

3-Build a Tower- Using whatever you have around the house, built and super cool tower. You can use recycling, lego, dvd boxes etc. I would love to see photos of all your towers!

Stay safe and have a lovely week!

Stars Activities 2

Hope you are all enjoying the good weather. Mrs Gardner and the ladies are all missing Willowbank and the Stars class.

Mrs Gardner’s daughter, Isla, made cinnamon buns. Don’t they look good. They didn’t last long!

Mrs Chisholm went a lovely walk to the Dean Castle Country Park with Evie and Owen where they saw ducks, sheep and a donkey.

At school we were learning about ‘The Great Outdoors’ by watching the DVD ‘Over the Hedge’

Maybe you’d like to do some outdoor activities at home. Choose any you wish to do. There is no obligation. Adapt any activities to suit what you have available, where you can safely access or what interests you. Ask your family to help you.

SPRING TREASURE HUNT

Try and find as many of the things on the following checklist as you can. Maybe you’d like to make a pair of binoculars to help you look!

Checklist – Try and find:-

blossom

seedlings

flower buds

flowers

insects

birds

squirrel

nest

green leaf

NATURES FACE COLLAGE

Collect a selection of stones, flowers, leaves and twigs. Use them to make a face collage. Maybe you could make faces for all your family. Count how many you’ve made.

SCIENCE – How to grow a rainbow

Mrs Westerman found a great way to make a rainbow.

  1. Draw coloured squares along the end of a strip of kitchen roll.

2. Hold paper over a saucer. Add a little water making sure the end of the paper gets wet.

3. Watch as the water creeps up the paper and makes a rainbow.

I hope you have fun doing these activities if you choose to do so. Send a photo or post a comment if you can. It would be great to hear from you.

Have Fun. Stay Safe.

Science Week

The Stars class were successful learners during science week. We explored many experiments in class (many of them very messy!) and also had a good time on Tuesday when we saw the planetarium, robots, engines and had fun with circuits on our STEM Science Day. We also had a fun Friday for Sports Relief where we took part in corridor activities.

World Book Day

The Stars class enjoyed World Book Day with lots of activities. We were effective contributors and made shortbread men alongside the story, ‘The Gingerbread Man’. Some of us were confident individuals as we dressed up on World Book Day and enjoyed the story, ‘The Old Toy Room’. We made story masks and explored a selection of old fashioned toys. We made a cup and ball game and enjoyed books we had brought in to share.

50 Things – Boat Trip and Burns Activities

The Stars class had fun creating paper boats and checking whether they would float or not. Thankfully they did! We will take our boating pond outside in the better weather. We enjoyed Burns activities this week making oatcakes and a Robert Burns silhouette picture. The Scottish songs were good too.
