The Snowdrops Celebrate Holi

Successful Learners     Confident Individuals

The Snowdrops have enjoyed learning about the Festival of Holi this week. They showed lots of interest in a video about the colourful celebrations that take place during the festival. The Snowdrops then participated in splatter painting to create colourful cards to wish everyone ‘Happy Holi’.

Careers Week in the Snowdrops

Successful Learners     Confident Individuals 

Last week the Snowdrops class enjoyed participating in careers week themed activities.

Everyone showed interest in pictures of different jobs people do in the community and  the vehicles and uniforms they use to do these jobs.

The Snowdrops then participated in role-play activities. Everyone enjoyed dressing up as police officers, firefighters , nurses and vets!

FAOL – World Book Day – Snowdrops

The Snowdrops enjoyed a great World Book Day today! Everyone showed lots of interest in our Elmer stories and some Snowdrops decorated an Elmer picture. The Snowdrops also participated in making colourful elephant ears and trunks to match Elmer!

Fairtrade shopping in the Snowdrops

The Snowdrops have shown lots of interest in our class Fairtrade activities. Everyone responded well to songs and stories about Pablo the super banana and hunting for the Fairtrade mark when shopping.  Pupils have used different textures to create their own Fairtrade banana artwork and we then made yummy banana sandwiches!

Fairtrade in the Snowdrops

The Snowdrops have been busy learning about Fairtrade this week. Everyone showed interest in exploring Fairtrade foods and products and identifying the Fairtrade logos hidden around the class. Everyone  then participated in lots of shredding and sticking  to make their own Fairtrade logo.

Snowdrops FAOL – Science – Animal Habitats

The Snowdrops have been learning about Animal Habitats as part of their science focus this term.  Everyone has enjoyed exploring various animal habitats (such as woodland/forest, desert/sand, water and ice/snow) through sensory play, watching video clips and matching activities.

Snowdrops FAOL- GG3 Good Health and Wellbeing

As part of our Eco/Sustainable Development work on Good Health and Wellbeing (move and smile more), the Snowdrops have enjoyed participating in lots of different movement activities.

We have enjoyed outdoor games and activities such as playing with a ball, riding bikes and exploring other playground equipment. In the class we have had good fun participating in sensory MOVE activities, Scottish dancing and songs, active numeracy and literacy tasks as well as class yoga sessions.

LGBT – Rainbow Skittles

The Snowdrops have enjoyed more LGBT theme activities this week. We have explored different colours and have made  beautiful rainbows. The Snowdrops also showed a lot of interest in our science experiment to see if we could make a rainbow using skittles and water. Everyone was very confident when pouring the water and everyone thought the colourful results were amazing!

Giraffes Can’t Dance

The Snowdrops have been experiencing activities relating to our LGBT topic.  They all showed lots of interest in our story Giraffes Can’t Dance.  Just like the animals in our story, we are all different and everyone responded really well to creating their own dance moves!  The Snowdrops have noticed the different colours in the LGBT flag and created their own flags using different coloured textures.

Chinese New Year in the Snowdrops

The Snowdrops have all shown lots of interest in exploring pictures and visual aids all about the Chinese New Year.  Everyone responded well to creating Chinese crafts and had fun dressing up and listening to Chinese music.
