The Bluebells enjoyed a fun-filled fitness day today. We took turns in wearing a Fitbit to track our steps as we jumped, danced, balanced, hopped and wiggled in the sunshine!

Earth Day
Last week on Friday we completed Earth day activities.
Some of the pupils were able to take some paper and put it in the recycling bin in the corridor. We also made sure we turned off the lights when we didn’t need them.
We completed an earth day matching activity and listened to the story about the Lorax saving the earth. We then created our own Lorax picture. We also sat in the dark and used a torch to explore books. This was a favourite activity and all the pupils really enjoyed this.
Easter disco and egg hunt
Yesterday was our outdoor Easter disco. We had lots of fun outside with our friends with bubbles and dancing. We also had our snack outside too. We then enjoyed an indoor egg hunt in the class finding eggs and putting them in our buckets. We then enjoyed another outdoor egg hunt with the Snowdrops I the playground today. We were confident individuals holding our buckets and looking around to see how many eggs we could find. We then sat and counted out all the eggs inside our buckets.
Decorating biscuits
This week we used icing on a spoon and icing in a pen to decorate Easter biscuits. We had to use the muscles in our hand to squeeze the icing out of the pen to create a pattern on our egg shape biscuit. We were confident individuals holding the spoon and then pen to create our design. We were responsible citizens making sure we made sure we left some for our friends to use too. Some of us even tried the biscuits once we had finished making them.
Easter fun
Yesterday we had lots of fun when the animals came to visit. We were confident individuals and sat well petting the animals. They loved watching at the animals explored their pen. They also watched as the animals ate their food.
Today we followed picture clues around the garden and playground and looked for eggs. We found 5 eggs and put them in our baskets. At the last clue we found the Easter bunny and he gave us a chocolate egg.
Dinosaurs
Our new theme is dinosaurs and this week we were also learning all about the letter “d”. We made d dinosaurs. We were confident individuals gluing the spikes to the letter d and then using bingo dabbers to create a spotty effect on the letter.
We also were matching different types of dinosaurs to their shadows. We had to look at the shape outline and see if we could find the matching dinosaur picture.
Science week
Last week was science week in school. We really loved all the different science experiments we did in class. The Transition class delivered a different experiment each day. They were all about the senses. On Monday we had sight, Tuesday we had touch, Wednesday was smell, Thursday was taste and Friday was about hearing. Our favourite was the touch experiment. We had to place our hand in to a box, have a feel around then use the photo cards to decide what we thought was inside the box. Some of the pupils were very good at guessing.
We also got very messy and created our own slime in a bowl. Most of the children were confident individuals putting their hand in the bowl, lifting their hands in the air and letting it fall through their fingers and into the bowl. We also made stomp rockets and watched them fly – some even hit the ceiling. We also used oil, water and food colouring to make our own lava lamp. We enjoyed this and it was very calming.
Red Nose Day
On Friday we had lots of Red Nose Day fun. We were confident individuals and tolerated trying the red nose on our own nose.
We decorated cakes to make them look like faces by adding edible eyes, mouth, ears and a big red nose in the centre. We also decorated a nose with red collage materials to show at our virtual corridor meeting in the afternoon.
In the afternoon we went on a red nose hunt in the garden trying to find all the different noses and mark them off on our sheet. We also joined a TEAMS meeting with the other classes to share our Red Nose Day. We enjoyed seeing our peers on the screen and interacting with them.
We also did a red food tasting session trying lots of different red foods and we circled the faces to show wether we liked or disliked each different item.
Holi artwork
The Bluebells have enjoyed learning about the Hindi festival of Holi. The children loved that it was a colourful festival. We scrunched up lots of different coloured tissue paper and added them to a tree trunk design to make a colourful tree. Some were confident individuals and able to identify each colour the were placing on the tree.
St Patrick’s Day
Yesterday Mr Campbell spoke about St Patrick’s day at assembly and his background on the screen made him look like he was in Dublin. Today we went for a rainbow hunt in the garden. We came back to class made the rainbow and found a pot of gold at the end. We then all enjoyed a gold chocolate coin.
We also used a fork to paint a beard on our very own leprechaun. We enjoyed using the fork to make it look like the beard and hair. We then added a green hat to our leprechaun. Some of the pupils were able to independently use the fork making a beard. We then used a pencil to create a face for our leprechaun some had big smiles and some even had big eyebrows.
