Willowbank School, KilmarnockThis week we attended a Remembrance Assembly organised by the Transition Class, we heard a story about how Remembrance Day came to be, had fun doing some poppy crafts, dressed up like soldiers, and played on the Magic Carpet. We also made some beautiful poppies in class.
The Sungazers are Effective Contributors as they prepare and share a variety of snacks with their friends. They enjoy visiting the different classes with our Friday Treat Trolley, our weekly act of kindness.
Yesterday the Pine Class enjoyed making biscuits. We floured the work surfaces to make sure the dough did not stick, rolled the dough nice and thin and cut out different shapes. While they were baking we decorated some Mrs Wilson had make earlier – with lots of spots!!! Do you think they look like Pudsey??
The boys enjoyed their Remembrance day assembly, I think you will agree we have some very handsome soldiers. We have completed some art work in class and watched some videos and listened to songs to pay our respect to the soldiers that fought for us.
Every boy within the Oak class was an effective contributor, we all worked as a team to create our chocolate reindeer lollipops for the Christmas market. We had a very successful production line and made 50 lollipops in a short period of time.
Each boy chose the colour they would like to decorate and Anthony coloured his very own reindeer.
Simple and effective Enterprise product that the boys enjoyed making to sell at the Christmas market.
The Snowdrops have all been responsible citizens exploring the things that plants need to grow. Everyone made effective contributions – filling tubs with soil, planting seeds and giving them some water. We are going to take care of them and hope they grow into Snowdrops!
The Sungazers class have been investigating the use of warm colours and cool colours in art. The pupils created these lovely owl pictures using sensory materials. Excellent work by these successful learners.
Today for P.E. we walked 2.5km in total, and paid a visit to the Remembrance Garden.
The Bluebells were successful learners this week. They were learning about what Poppies represent and then were effective contributors during our cookery lesson today as they helped to make Poppy themed biscuits.
