World Book Day

We had lots of fun for World Book Day.

We were successful learners as we explored the story of the BFG through sensory resources.

We made our own dream jars and were confident individuals choosing what colours of food colouring and glitter we wanted to add.

In the afternoon, we made our own BFG ears and queen crowns, then had a royal tea party just like the BFG did in the book. We were responsible citizens sharing snacks, choosing healthy options, and chatting to our friends.

Successful Learners with the Jungle Book Scenes!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS *

The Bluebells class actively participated during our recap of the Jungle Book film by pretending to be the different characters. We did this using masks and through roleplay. We also demonstrated our understanding of the film by sorting the scenes into the correct order.

World Book Day

*Confident Individuals*   *Successful Learners*

The Moonbeams have enjoyed exploring and responding to stories this week as part of celebrating World Book Day. The pupils learned some animal and food signs as they listened to stories ‘Dear Zoo’ and ‘Goldilocks and the three Bears.’ The children were able to demonstrate their favourite part by choosing from pictures or signing and speaking the characters names.

World Book Day Successful Learners

Apologies there is an issue affecting the upload of pictures. The Transition Boys had a wonderful time on Word Book Day. We had a couple of new faces in class. Ali Baba and The Boy in the Dress came for the day! The boys were really focussed as we read excerpts from each book. Some boys did a short study on David Walliams and some designed new characters. Everyone successfully made masks based on their favourite book.

Transition Demonstrate that they are Responsible Citizens

Apologies there is an issue affecting the upload of pictures. The Transition class finished their project creating a sensory tile. This sensory tile will form part of a sensory studio and each boy was proud to take an active part in designing, painting and building the tile.

Scientific Successful Learners

Apologies there is an issue affecting the upload of pictures. The Transition class started their preparation for Science week next week. NO SPOILERS! They tested their formula and equipment that they will pass to each secondary class next week. Things got a bit messy and wet but fingers crossed every class goes as well as ours!

Successful Learners in the Outdoors

Apologies there is an issue affecting the upload of pictures. The Transition boys took learning outdoors this week (the sun even shone!). The boys were consolidating their understanding of direction and time. The remote control bug was used off-road round a course. Each boy had the chance to control the bug and also to use the timer to see who was the fastest. We’ll keep you updated on the overall winner as we build up our off-road skills!

Confident Individuals in the Cookery Room

Apologies there is an issue affecting the upload of pictures. The Transition boys participated actively in making naan bread from three ingredients. They used their numeracy skills to each weigh out 50g of flour and 50g of yoghurt.  They combined this with 1/4 of a teaspoon of baking powder and a pinch of salt. The boys were very safe and sensible as they cooked them in a very hot frying pan. Each naan was very soft and tasty when eaten with some Indian style dips!

Successful Learners – World Book Day

Paired reading using our favourite stories from home!  We loved showing off our favourite stories and characters to our friends.  We used our understanding of our books to create a review of the books we read or heard then made some art work based on a story we read together in class all about space.

This is the story we created by each team choosing either a character, setting, problem or solution to add to the story!  It was so funny!

Effective Contributors During Fairtrade Fortnight

We chose to make banana loaf using some Fairtrade bananas and sugar this week.  Our community café workers were delighted to take our loaf to sell on at café 🙂
