RSHP Parent Steering Group
Members of our parent body have raised concerns about the content of Relationships Sexual Health and Parenting (RSHP) lessons and have already highlighted their intention to extract their children from this area of the curriculum.
As part of our School Improvement Plan, Mrs McNulty is therefore looking to create a Parent Group to develop knowledge and understanding, as well as confidence, within our parents and carers, to ensure effective delivery and outcomes of RSHP here at New Cumnock Primary.
Is this something you feel strongly about or feel you have little knowledge of? Do you have time to join us to share your thoughts or questions?
Please complete the Form below and Mrs McNulty will contact all parents who have registered, to arrange a meeting in the near future.

PE kits
A reminder of class PE days can be found in the ‘Important Information’ section above.
PE kit must be brought in to school on these days. (This can be left in school bags or hanging on pegs in a kit bag).
Shorts and suitable indoor shoes are required. No football strips allowed. Older children may find it more comfortable having a change of top to change in to too.
It would be helpful if jewellery was removed and long hair tied back on these days too.
Failure to have the correct kit, will mean your child cannot participate in PE.
If you require support with this, please contact the school.

‘Oliver! JR’ School Show Success
Where do we even begin?! We could not be more more proud of the cast and crew of our first school production, ‘Oliver! JR’.
We had an amazing opening night and didn’t think it would be possible to beat it, but at the second evening’s performance, our talented youngsters raised the bar even higher!
A huge thank you to everyone who came to support our first (of many) school productions and to everyone who worked so hard to make it the huge success it was!
A special thank you to Euan Gibb for providing the sound equipment for us and to our wonderful Parent Council for so kindly covering the cost of this for us!
‘Wow the weans of Oliver upped their game even more tonight. It was absolutely fabulous, standing ovation for them. What a lot of time and effort from Mrs McNulty, Mrs Clarke and all the weans. I had a wee tear on my eye at them all on the stage at the end.’
‘A-MAZ-ING!!! Wee superstars!’
‘Absolutely amazing! Every one of them were brilliant, You could see all the work and effort that was out into it.’
‘Can I just say that the Oliver Show at NCPS last night was absolutely outstanding, the full cast were amazing. The ones that had main parts were fantastic and Oliver himself was just perfect! Ranging from 8 to age 12 and putting a performance on like that was truly wonderful! I hope all the parents of those kids are so so proud and the kids themselves should be proud. I was totally stunned at how good the show was, so well done to each and every single one of you! Can’t wait till the next show!’
P6 and P7 Loch Doon Water Safety Awareness Training
Today, P6 and P7 an outdoor water safety awareness course at Loch Doon.
We learned about the hidden hazards within and around the water and how to correctly use the life-saving equipment strategically positioned around the loch. Both classes received essential lifesaving skills training including CPR awareness and defib training and were taught how to float in the water, should they find themselves in danger. They also learned invaluable information about cold-water shock, which is one of the main causes of drowning in Scotland.
A huge thank you to Scottish Fire and Rescue, Police Scotland, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Loch Doon Ranger Service, Forestry and Land Scotland for their informative sessions.
