Calling All New Cumnock Kids for NCDT!

New Cumnock Community Kids
As New Cumnock Development Trust continue to develop youth work and youth provision in our community, we are delighted to let you know that we are on the look out for NCDT Community Kids 2022! In days gone by we had a Royal Gala Party but NCDT want to bring you Community Kids!
Our community kids will represent the community at wide range of NCDT events from April 2022 to April 2023! They will attend activities and have a special range of duties to carry out over the year!
We will be recruiting:
x2 junior Community Kids from the CURRENT primary 3 or 4
and
x2 senior Community Kids from the CURRENT primary 5 or 6.
If you think you know a young person up for the challenge and who can represent New Cumnock for the year with a smile on their face and ready to be involved then please mail our Facebook page or email tammy.ncdt@outlook.com for more information or an application form.
*Please note applicants will be expected to come along for a chat with a couple of members of team NCDT.
We cannot wait to see who is chosen!

World of Work Week Day 2

Primary 6 have been enjoying learning about careers in law and the justice system.  This was linked to their learning about Article 40 of the UNCRC that says:

A child accused or guilty of breaking the law must be treated with dignity and respect.  They have the right to legal assistance and a fair trial that takes account of their age.  Governments must set a minimum age for children to be tried in a criminal court and manage a justice system that enables children who have been in conflict with the law to reintegrate into society.

They hosted a mock trial, looked at the different parts of the court and the roles involved in a trial!

Primary 2 extended their learning from their virtual Windfarm visit with Vattenfall and RJ McLeod by making pin wheel windmills!

They were so interested in how windmills worked and their creations are absolutely fantastic!

Primary 7 used the Skills Development Scotland website to investigate which careers best suited their personalities.  They answered THIS OR THAT questions which then generated a series of jobs that suited their answers.

FLAG FRIDAY for Languages Week Scotland

Tomorrow brings us to the end of Languages Week Scotland, and we hope the children have enjoyed their classroom activities as well as their whole school learning with Mr Hastings about languages and cultures from all over the world!

We will be finishing our languages week by encouraging all pupils and staff to come to school dressed in the colours of a flag of their choice!  We can’t wait to see how colourful you all look!
