I hope you are all well. Here are some tasks to complete over the week if you can. Hopefully the weather will stay dry so you can get out and play too. I’ve really enjoyed hearing all the fun things you have been getting up to over the past few weeks. Take care.

Hello Primary 3/4, I hope you and your families are safe, well and happy. Please find below this week’s tasks for you to try and work on. Please have a look through and try your best. Do what you can, when you can 😊
Literacy and English
1) This weeks phonic sound is “ee” and your words to practice reading and spelling are: see, green, three, sleep, feel, need and deep. If you want to challenge yourself further, try to think of 5 different ee words. This week, lets try to link spelling and writing by writing our spelling words into a short story. Underline your spelling words if you can and remember, if you include adjectives, underline them in blue too!
2) Aim to spend around 20-25 minutes on Bug Club. You could split this into 2 shorter sessions of 10 minutes if you wish. I have made sure that you all have books allocated. Remember to check for any teacher feedback too.
3) Design and create a card to give someone a message and show them that you care. Think about who you are going to give your card to – will it be somebody in your house or somebody that you miss? Perhaps you could post it or pop it in their door when you are out for a walk with your family. What design do you think the person would like for the front cover? (in class we sometimes look on google image for design ideas) What message will go on the inside? Remember the format for writing your message.
Numeracy & Maths
4) Go on sumdog and complete the challenge questions focused on place value. When you log in and go to play a game, the place value questions will come up first. Last week’s questions on division are still there if you have not completed them yet.
5) Use the function machines below to practice addition. There are 2 different sheets so that you may choose the one you think is best for you. You may write these out as addition calculations in your home learning jotter eg 5+4=9 or 52+12=65
6) Complete the challenge below. Just as we practice in class, there is always more than 1 way to solve a challenge. We like to explore the different ways a challenge can be solved eg a calculation, drawing a picture, an empty number line, acting it out. Talk to your adult about how you solved it. Can you find 2 different ways to show how you may solve the problem?

7) Paint your own minibeast rocks! Next time you are walking outdoors or playing out, why don’t you see if you can find some suitable sized rocks to paint and design into different minibeasts? You hide these in your garden/outdoor space for your family to find! Here are some ideas to get you started.
8) Exercise and movement is so important for our health and wellbeing. Can you create an exercise routine for you and your family? You could use your names to give you ideas too.

I hope you have had a nice week and managed to do some fun outdoor activities with your family. I am just checking in with you to give you your Home Learning activities for this week. Literacy
P2 and P3 – Look at your Active Literacy sounds sheet and practise the new words with the ‘o-e’ spelling. Your words for this week are home, rope, stole, awoke, hope and smoke. Practise writing the words for this spelling in your laminated Elkonin Boxes in your pack. Write 3 sentences using some of your new words. Bug Club – Reading
Log on to Bug Club and read 2 of your books. Try reading the book to an adult once you have read it yourself and ask them to point out words for you to read. Well done to everyone who has been reading their books.
Writing
For writing this week we are going to be writing instructions on How to Plant Sunflower Seeds. Watch the short video clip below on BBC Bitesize about planting sunflower seeds and then write a set of instructions on what you do. We wrote instructions 2 weeks ago so just set them out the same way. Remember what did they do first, second, third and fourth. I have also put a set of instructions sheet below for you to print out and use to help you with your writing. If you don’t have a printer just write them on a sheet of paper.

Numeracy
P2 – This week Primary 2 are working on Subtration to 20. I have put in a link for you to print a sheet with calculations up to 20. There is a number line attached to help you if you need it. If you can’t print the sheet you can still view it and you could copy the sums.
P3 – This week Primary 3 are working on times tables. You are completing a missing number times tables sheet for the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables. Challenge yourself and see how many you can complete.
P2 and P3 – Go on to Topmarks and practise the Subtraction Grid below. You can start with one missing number then you can challenge yourself for two. See how high you can go. Can you try some up to 100?

Art – This week I would like you to make, paint or draw a picture of a Sunflower or lots of small Sunflowers. Look at the pictures below to help you see what they look like. You can either use paint, pencils, pens or make a 3D effect one using different materials.
Stem – We are going to be making a Cress Caterpillar this week. If you can get a packet of cress seeds or you might have some in the house, that would be great. You need egg shells, cotton wool, paint or pens and cress seeds. I have attached a link for a video below to help you. Have fun.

Numeracy – Partition each of these numbers. Can you make the numbers? Use objects to represent ‘hundreds’, ‘tens’ and ‘units’ like stones for units, sticks for tens and a rock for hundreds.
Calculations – Have you been practising your learn its? Here is a copy of a Beat That. Some of you were only set 3 minutes to finish it. Keep practising this week to see what your best score can be. An adult can copy out the sums and reorder them to allow you to have a different page each day. Length – Revision of using a ruler to measure in centimetres (cm) this week. Compare a car from the past to our current cars. Can you complete the diagrams with the correct labels? Can you write a description of each car? PE – Just Dance! In class you all love the ‘Just Dance’ video clips on Youtube. Choose your favourite songs to dance along to at home. |
